He continually gets the benefit of the doubt from a lot of Mavs fans, myself included, but what has he actually done to deserve it? His interventionism and conviction that he is the smartest guy in the room has consistently worked against the Mavericks. He didn’t play a role in the two biggest decisions in franchise history (drafting Dirk and drafting Luka) other than OK’ing a trade up to get Luka. We are successful as a franchise because Donnie drafted those guys. Other than that he has been worse than mediocre, he has been a bumbling fool and underrated cheapskate who consistently fails to make the right decision. Let’s take a look at his actual track record:

Our roster isn’t the best and Kidd isn’t the best coach, but those are symptoms of the disease that is Mark Cuban. Sell the team Cuban.

Not to mention talking shit about players (Kobe, Russ, Kenyon Martin, etc).
In a league where theres only a few agents and all the players are BFFs, i can’t imagine being stupid enough as an owner to shit talk players.
A billionaire wanting to save 400K, when he previously never had problems signing free agents and that’s how he built the championship roster, is hilarious to me.
I think our owner is one and done. Won a championship because how much Dirk wanted, not Cuban. Now that we won once, he doesn’t give a fuck.

Very well put, he is a fool. Feel bad that Luka and his career could be totally wasted if he is stuck under Cuban’s nonsense long-term. Not something the best player in the league deserves.
Well…if Cuban is your problem might as well find a different team to cheer for as that is 100% not changing.
Brunson was never signing that extension and at that point in his career the Mavs were correct not offering it.
He’s always been overrated because he’s “player-friendly”.
In reality, Dirk and the 2011 team are carrying his reputation to this day with their miracle run. Because since 2011, the Mavs FO and upper management have been inept.
Just to add a few more points to your list:
– He let Tyson Chandler walk the same summer right after the title run (and Tyson went on to win DPOY with the Knicks the following year)
– He (and Donnie) traded Barnes for Justin Jackson…look at how Barnes is playing with the Kings rn and look at what the current roster is lacking
– Lastly, and most recently, he (and Nico) tried to convince Mavs fans that Frank Ntilikina could fill the void left by Brunson in terms of ball handling, and overpaid McGee instead of signing Dragic. And since that’s backfired and they realized the screwed up, now they are signing ball handlers that nobody else picked up (Facu and Kemba) to fill the ball handling void
