Lay of the land for tanking

To kind of add on to the excellent overview of the team that was posted here today. Last week I made a little reference chart of all the teams that might be buyers at the deadline/off-season for the raptors as well as their picks and interesting young guys. It’s not exhaustive but it helps ground discussions on whether ‘to tank or not to tank’.

Not easy to make these kinds of calls! Lots of interesting options but you really need to have faith in certain young guys and have the market be hot enough that someone overpays.

This is good work man. People always talk about tanking without actually mentioning the available options. I’m not a fan of the idea but this presents some interesting ideas.

Just wanna say this chart is incredible. I would add Herb Jones and Jose Alvarado onto the Pelicans chart even if NOLA decides theyre off the table

It’s so annoying having multiple tabs open and trying to keep track of pick protections. Thanks for this.

Shaedon and Ant would be big W to start the rebuild. Ant is baby lillard

FYI – Wizards pick is currently protected until 2026 so unless they remove protections, they can’t move a pick until 2027 or 2028, and the former would need to be a swap so as to not conflict with the Stephen Rule.

Same goes with Mavericks, who I’d add Jaden Hardy to the list of their young guys.

Also thanks for sneaking in Ayton. There are dozens of us!
