Indiana Pacers doomed by atrocious rebounding effort vs Brooklyn Nets + Heat and Oladipo in town

The Indiana Pacers played excellent offense all weekend long, but went 1-1 after an awful rebounding performance against the Brooklyn Nets. Host Tony East breaks down the Pacers win over the Washington Wizards and loss vs the Nets and how the team can get better at rebounding. Then, he discusses the Miami Heat and Victor Oladipo, who are in Indianapolis tonight.

  1. Everyone on the planet knows Myles isn't a strong rebounder. Your 6'11 center is the player that you rely on to get defensive rebounds. That being said I'm not bashing Myles. Why not give Myles the night off since Brooklyn sat so many players and played Goga or Jackson or even. Counter what Brooklyn did and give some starters the night off too. It'd had changed the entire dynamic of the game. This game would have been a literal perfect Goga and Jackson game. But instead Carlisle gives Goga 0 minutes. Smith 13 minutes and Jackson 12. Myles has become very polished offensively now. He uses more energy in that area now. He's never been a great rebounder. He's even admitted so. I'm not mad at Myles. I was FURIOUS at Carlisle. He coached A piss poor game. Worst of the season. He got stubborn and was giving Smith and Jackson VERY short leashes but leaves Myles in the entire 4th quarter when it was obvious Myles didn't have his A game. Man this was a game to leave Jalen in against 3rd stringers even if he's making mistakes. Let him work through it. How can you not play Taylor or Goga any minutes at all when the other team is playing their bottom 5 players on the depth chart? Carlisle was coaching like it wad game 7 playoff series. He most likely didn't want to get embarrassed or outcoached but He failed miserably. I'm sorry this one is on Carlisle. If fans disagree and want to bash Myles 3 total rebounds for the entire game I won't necessarily argue with You. I just think Carlisle failed miserably with his rotations. Been a perfect game literally to give Goga and a taylor minutes. Taylor is A beast in the G league. This was a G league team basically. I'm over it. A win tomorrow would erase it from My memory. Just concerned about the lingering effects. This team is either going to come out like A bat out of hell or they will look broken. We shall see

  2. Carlisle should have already made adjustments. When Zubac grabs 29 rebounds against You there are some areas that need addressed. Carlisle called it an effort thing. I don't care how bad tj McConnell wants to rebound during a game when your 6'2 guarding small forwards. You think Marcus Morris was concerned about Nesmith guarding him? He had Buddy guarding Porzingis the night before. Porzingis went 9/9 from the field in the 1st half. Carlisle is being set and stubborn Im ln his ways right now. He's lost Jackson.. I can read Jackson's body language. Jackson's attitude has soured. I don't blame him. I'm not sure what Jalen Smith does to get yanked 5 minutes into the game almost every night. I usually am unable to watch beginning of game but he subs Jalen out like 5 minutes into the game almost every game

  3. Top rebounder of the game? Mathurin (7). Waits for Oshea to pick up 6 fouls to see some playing time in the 4th.
    Terry Taylor – a rebound specialist – ? 0 playing time.

Carlisle is a stubborn 3-point, combo-guard galore loving feller.

  4. I dislike people who claim we need a rebounder to fix our rebounding issue. Sabonis averaged 12 and we still sucked at rebounding when we had his ass. This was a team effort thing, but the Turbonis brainrot means Myles must be why we got out rebounded by 29. Not that no one rebounded well despite most matchups giving us the size advantage.

  5. The second Eastern Conference championship year with PG we let Josh Harrellson dominate us with the Pistons.. last time I remember them grossing me out to this level

  6. Our frontcourt players are soft who don't like contact, fact. Our backcourt offensive play can't be asked to make up for bad paint defense every night and win. People drive on our guards because our guards can't guard, yes, but also because they know we're soft on interior too.

  7. We couldn't grab rebounds because our perimeter defense is so atrocious our big man have to play help side and contest shots at the rim which allows teams to crash and get easy boards.

  8. How about telling Smith and Turner to stay near the paint on offense instead of trying to be Steph Curry? They put up 3's, who's down low to get a board, Haliburton, Heild and Nembhard? C'mon bigs, get into position that helps the team. We have enough shooters in backcourt already.

  9. Fire Carlisle & let Lloyd Pierce coach! He’s the only one that will play Smith & Jackson together—when out best rebounding guard (Duarte) is out, all those others are wanting to get out & run like they should but opposing teams just say “crash the offensive boards” & it’s not rocket science, Carlisle you dimwit who can’t even accept help from his coaching staff after getting knocked down—just proves what a stubborn ass he is!

  10. And another thing—you can tell teams like the Nets & Knicks have great front offices that have put talented, hardworking players 15 deep on their stupid teams.

  11. I don’t think it was mentally, the guys that were suppose to do their job didn’t. Like why the big guys not getting the rebounds when your already close to the net

  12. We need a big strong backup big for certain matchups. I'd really like to see Pacers get Kyle Kuzma, Jaxson Hayes, Jae Crowder, Josh Hart, Myles Turner back, Vanderbilt, Clarkson, maybe Olynyk and a Pat Bev if McConnell doesn't stay..

  13. I also love Duarte, but if he can't stay healthy.. Why not try and see if we can possibly swap him for a Kuminga, Kuzma, Hayes or Hunter??

  14. The big difference-maker in the game was Nesmith not playing the last five minutes. His defensive containment and speed would have not allowed the Nets to come back like they did.
