@Toronto Raptors

Since most of the fanbase is crying about it. Here is how the team would look if the Kevin Durant with Scottie happened(also 3 firsts and 3 swaps). How far would this team go in a short window?

Yikes.. with how Fred’s been playing, 2nd rnd exits at best.

If this trade happens there would need to be other “win now” moves to go along with it. Also where is Gary and OG? No chance we give up Scottie , Gary and OG. That would make zero sense

  3. SortOfLongJonSilver

Scottie, Gary and OG? Damn dude.

Correction: I forgot to put Chris Boucher, he wouldn’t be on Brooklyn he would still be on the Raptors

There is no way it would’ve been Scottie / OG / GTJ

They’re getting enough value with Scottie and picks, GTJ is a sweetener and Thad works for salary.

Having KD/Pascal/OG/FVV and maybe having enough to swing for Poeltl would’ve been pretty damn good.

  6. I think it was probably realistic that we could have gotten KD for Scottie, Gary, Khem & 3 picks/swaps. That’s still a lot more than what Utah got for Gobert, and a pretty impressive package.

That would essentially give us the same roster with OG instead of Otto starting (a huge upgrade).

Which would be a very good team that would probably cruise to 50-55 wins, and be on the level of teams like Boston, Cleveland, and Milwaukee. That said, it would be a tough time to break through any of those teams (as well as Philly), and we’d probably see the roster get a bit worse each year as KD gets older. That was always my issue with trading Scottie and picks for an older player. How would the roster get better next year?

It’s been a bit of a disappointing season so far, but at least there are still ways to either improve the roster, or build for the future. We may be in “no man’s land” in terms of record and our ability to compete for a title, or tank for Wemby, but we still have the flexibility to grow.

This season is really reminding me of the year we signed Jared Sullinger, and started Pascal (eventually trading for PJ & Serge). It’s clear that the imbalance of the roster is setting them up to fail when we clearly had important elements missing on the roster (shooting, rim defence, POA guard defence) from day one.

Our FO has never really made panic decisions, and they’ve almost always shown patience for their core guys during rough stretches.

Norm fell out of the rotation in his third year, Kyle was pretty mediocre in his first year, and had a really tough stretch before the trade deadline during the year we won the championship, OG wasn’t great in his second year, Fred sucked in the first half of the playoffs during the championship run, Serge didn’t have a great second year with the team, and so on.

I don’t expect the FO to give up on any key players when they’re playing poorly. I also don’t expect them to accept a 44 win season either. So I’ll be curious of what happens next.

You’re also not considering the additional star talent which KD would automatically attract. Nobody wants to play in Toronto right now, we already have a lot
Of negative connotation (most of it not rightly deserved). Having KD would’ve instantly changed that

Would still need a NBA starting calibre centre, whether that comes from Koloko’s development, trade, or FA signing (none available atm)

I think the idea would be that next year would be our year and this year we would be competitive…it would be a lot easier to attract free agents to fill out the roster with both KD and Siakam on board than just Siakam alone…that being said I still wouldn’t make the trade because it’s too much of a risk and KD will be 35 next season which statistically is when most player begins to decline in performance.

If you’re going to give up that much for one player then you go after someone much younger who gives you a larger window like a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander type player who you have on the roster for the next 10 years…then you have plenty of time to fill out the roster around Siakam and SGA (If he or someone like him was available).

Lol Otto and Fred would get killed by any quick guards

  11. Jaiveer17

lmao i think OG+GTJ+Scottie + 3 firsts + 3 picks swaps would be the worst trade of all time

  12. Ylissian

This is the team /r/nba thinks is worth mortgaging your future over lmaoooo

  13. KayPizzle

The arm chair GM’s mansplaining how the trade would look is always jokes to me.

  14. Alexspacito

In what world are we giving up OG, Gary, Scottie, and 3 firsts for KD?

  15. 1m_1ll1T3RAT3

The main reason the Scottie trades don’t work is his salary is too low compared to his output so the only way to make the money work is to send out more talent than we get back.

Which surprise surprise, Bobby and Masai didn’t want to do.

  16. shahed2806

KD’s offence would improve our offence a lot but the loss of 3 playable guys when we have depth issues and even less shooters would make us a middling team just as we are right now. Also relying on an injury prone guy like Otto in the starting lineup, a rookie center with limited offence and losing OG’s defence would hurt us a lot too. Add in giving up draft picks and we really screw ourselves for the foreseeable future. KD and Pascal would be cool to see though just from an entertainment perspective.

  17. dinky3000

If Kyrie and harden couldn’t do it with KD why do you think Pascal and Freddy could ?

  18. yrretgnof

bro this team would be bottom 3 in the league

  19. Future-Tart

Then Durant gets injured (as he often does) and Raptors are a lottory team

  20. TinnieTa21

If you really are trying to prove a point, at least be realistic.

None of the fans or the front office would have ever thought that Barnes + GTJ + OG + three 1sts + three pick swaps for KD would be a good trade.

  21. ShamgarApoxolypse

The bench is 3 centers and two kinda not useful guards? Not very far

  22. dirtnaps

The problem with this trade is that it doesn’t address this team’s biggest flaw, which is that we need a guard who can shoot and create looks for everyone else. We already have a glut of talent for wings (good problem to have).

FVV is best when he’s not asked to be the main ball handler. He struggles to shoot off the dribble and he can’t finish near the rim.

  23. JTtizzle

Don’t think all 3 of Scottie, OG and gtj would be needed. Sean marks seemed like he was willing to move if he got a half decent offer. If Brooklyn bit on Scottie, gtj, Flynn, Thad all our picks/ swaps then you do it. Brooklyn was looking for an allstar, young promising player, all the draft picks. Before this season Gary didn’t look that far off an allstar. In terms of comparing it to the gobert trade, beasly and Gary would have been similar, giving up Scottie would be the difference, giving up Flynn or banton is acting as another first round pick. Would leave it us as fvv, OG, KD, pascal, koloko. Bench precious, Boucher, banton or Flynn, porter, sign Yuta to a minimum.

still a trash team tho lmao i love KD and wanted him but still
