At this point Brooklyn is building momentum. People shouldn't put emphasis on certain games until the playoffs which decides who truly wins.
At this point what matters is the big three of Kevin Durant Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons are playing as many games as possible, building chemistry and helping lead the second unit.
So far Brooklyn bench depth has been the best it's ever been in a long time.
The importance of the trade deadline is for Brooklyn to make moves that bulk them up in certain areas and makes sure they have the best complete unit for the playoffs 🔥🔥
Also if Brooklyn doesn't make significant moves by the trade deadline the buyout market which has been successful for Brooklyn could end up helping them add significant talent to the roster. Players like Carmelo Anthony DeMarcus cousins derrick favors or Hassan Whiteside who aren't signed could get a spot or two on Brooklyn and help bring a veteran presence and some good minutes.
The biggest move for Brooklyn is trying to get another center.
Most options like Myles Turner John Collins or Jakob Poeltl would cost Brooklyn a main depth piece such as joe Harris a young talent prospect and draft compensation.
Given Brooklyn depth that might not be the risk Brooklyn wants to take.
But two center options who are affordable and beneficial to Brooklyn are Mo Bamba and Andre Drummond.
Mo Bamba is a young prospect with good blocking and rebounding skills. His offensive game hasn't taken that next leap yet and if he's surrounded by top talent like Kevin Durant Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons his offense could take another leap. Plus adding Bamba rebounding and blocking to the bench is a positive.
Andre Drummond meanwhile is familiar with Brooklyn system and he is the top rebounder in the league. He could help balance Brooklyn bench which has gotten lengthier this season and could definitely bring an offensive jolt as well.
Regardless Brooklyn is in a good position to make a big move and set themselves up for the future. .
On February 6, 2023, 3 days before the trade deadline, the Nets will trade Joe Harris, Seth Curry, David Duke Jr., a 2023 1st-rounder (via 76ers) and a 2024 1st-rounder to the Lakers for LeBron James and Russell Westbrook to determine the outcome of their season.
