Ryen Russillo is joined by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst to talk about the red-hot Grizzlies and whether they can contend for a title, whether the Pelicans are contenders—given their hot start to the season—and why the trade market at this year’s trade deadline may be thinner than usual.

San Antonio will win Wenby
I love Brian Windhorst. Find him calming
Windhorst needs to find a treadmill.
Ricky Rubio is out and set to come back so wrong about Cavs
Winny is so right Ja is the truth I believe that by next year or the year after Ja will be the best player in the league. The face of the league everything. All heart all talent.
I’m happy even calling the Pelicans fringe contenders at this point, they’re still very new to being good. Those two Jazz games were a good shot back to reality. They still need a better defensive big
With the Warriors falling, Grizz could pick up Iggy for nothing. He'd be a great calming influence.
It’ll be good if they match up in the play offs
Fatboy straight to the lakers lol slurp slurp
Pelicans are trash 🚮
Pelicans make the play in last year and for the first year in years have been a top 6 team= title contenders
But…
Grizzlies in last 3 years consistently improving, making playoffs and now the 1 seed= “hmmm, I don’t know if they are contenders honestly”
Media hypocrisy at its finest 😂
Idk I'm not a Ja guy. I've seen his team be SIGNIFICANTLY better without him in both the regular season AND the playoffs.
I'm not convinced
I’m so excited for my Grizzlies
“Like, like, like, like…” 🙄. If you speak professionally please work on your speech patterns and verbal pauses.
memphis probably the beat team in the west
He's lost his danm mind if he thinks New,Orleans has more talent than Memphis! Girizzlies Lol!
Grizzlies starting line up haven't played together yet smh lol
Couple of good analysts
Brian is a terrible analyst , he talked a out the warriors and Lakers who are washed then talked about the grizzlies needing to make a trade? Why would they trade anyone if thier team is dominating and are operating Financially in the black. They are in the number 1 slot a d have developed thier draft picks who actually play their rolls.
Take a drink everytime you hear the word "like"
The Grizzlies are legit.
Context to what Windhorst said, the ownership/FO that signed Parsons is not the current one. Before that after signing Rudy Gay to a huge (at the time) extension they then traded him away as soon as the luxury tax started kicking in. The Pera/Kleiman era is completely different than it was with Heisley/Wallace or even Pera/Wallace. They've drafted well resigned crucial backups in Clarke and Jones with Brooks soon to be signed in the offseason….last thing…Desmond Bane won that Timberwolves series for Memphis. So that line about “star power” I’m not buying one bit. Ja is a bonafide supernova but this team is so much more than just him.
It took Windhorst all of 15 seconds to take a question about the top 2 seeded Grizzlies and Pelicans and turn it into talking about the 12th place Lakers. Guy owns real estate on LeBron’s jock
Windhorst is ok in his analysis but Memphis got an NBA team from Vancouver because they are a big basketball city. Back then they were near the top in the country in nba viewers. Nothing like Akron. Talking heads should do a little more research. It’s not called Hoops City for nothing.
