Zach Lowe on a hypothetical Beal for Westbrook + picks trade: “If you asked 25 people around the league, you would get everything from ‘Oh my god no, Brad Beal is a top 25 player, that’s not even close’ and ‘Anything the Wizards can get to get off of that contract, they should probably do it.’”

What are your guys’ thoughts on this? The Wizards look like a lottery team and have Beal on a supermax with a no trade clause. Is it worth making that deal to get off that contract and start the rebuild sooner?

If I’m the wizards I’m tanking for wemby

I wouldn’t blame the Wiz for doing it, but in this case why do the Lakers take on that long term contract for an only okay player considering his price (good scorer but at that price tag you need him to do at LEAST one other thing well).

  3. “With a No Trade Clause.”

They can’t make the trade unless Beal says thats what he wants.

Wizards are on a 9 game losing streak. They aren’t gonna achieve shit this season, next season, or the season after that.

I’d personally do 27+29+Russ on an expiring for Beal immediately. Then tank for a chance at Wemby/Scoot.

If I’m the Wizards, I’d do it. They’re not going anywhere fast with this lineup. I’m just not sure the Lakers should do it. It’s a decent move for this season, but after that it starts to look very bleak.

  6. Do people still like the idea of having three big stars? Thought the common idea was two stars and good role players?

I’m in the “that’s a horrible contract” camp. I’m a Lakers fan also.

It really sucks that the Lakers can just get bailed out by virtue of being the Lakers.

And the idea that Beal is somehow the world’s most toxic asset is dumb.

Put me in the popular opinion camp of “it’s an abominable contract”, and the probably unpopular opinion camp of “Beal is a good player, but has always been super overrated”. I would personally unload him for the right deal. But he also has a no trade, so…

I mean, they’re all ready 6th in lottery odds right now with beal, stealth tank a little more and you might be able to get a top 5 pick and keep Beal. that would be a nice roster

I’m sorry but if your best player is top 25 and you have no means of getting other great players to be a serious team, there’s no “win now”. You just go for a rebuild.

Lakers don’t want Beal, it’s fake news created by fans and media.
