If this is true I cannot say I am surprised!

  2. If AD wasnā€™t going to be healthy the year was a wash regardless.

Heā€™s going to be out much longer than a month.

  3. king-boo

This is what they wanted from the start. Rob and Jeanie were just stringing the fans along until they found a good reason to punt the season

Again, Iā€™ll keep saying it. What did any of you expect with this roster heading into training camp? Itā€™s not a championship roster let alone a playoff roster. The Lakers made zero moves to dramatically increase their odds in the off-season. Expecting a miracle trade now is foolish.

I hate the FO but this is an opinion from stein to stir something up

Lakers are 2 games out of the Play In and 4 games out of the 6 seed. The West has been a logjam thus far and if the FO decides to pack it in after the AD news it just goes to show you the inability of Buss and Pelinka to put the team in a position to succeed.

  7. They shouldn’t make any trade this season that involves picks unless they can get back in their prime players that can support LeBron/AD for the next 2-3 years. Size up the roster with a small trade surrounding Nunn/Bev and cut 6’1 guard minutes and suck it up.

  8. I feel like it was going to be punted one way or another. Every piece of news was just another excuse as to why they didnā€™t want to make moves.

Not enough time in the season.

  9. Why would the team punt this season if we don’t own our pick?

  10. Trash FO. Cheap owner. Thatā€™s all I can say

Wth hes a dumb ass. We just beat a great team and were about to beat two other great teams before we blew the lead. Weā€™re right there. West is open. Have to keep grinding and play hard and hope ad comes back healthy.

  12. Numerous_Ad2168

That was the plan all along. Ownership must change

  13. quwin123

There is no point in giving up future draft equity if thereā€™s no chance at a title.

But the problem is, waiting for Russ, Bev and Nunn to expire takes us into the off-season with like $35M in room, and there isnā€™t any great max guy in this yearā€™s class. So structurally speaking, we are better off trading Russ, Bev and Nunn now because itā€™s our only way to get meaningful depth.

5D chess AD is actually back in a few days but Lakers are saying he is out for a month to make it seem like we arenā€™t willing to give up much in a trade cuz season is over. KD on the way!!

  15. SpikyKid

You keep trying. I donā€™t care if itā€™s the play-in or 6th seed. You keep trying until itā€™s over. Make trades to help this team

  16. Lesigh another season of disappointment, I have no idea why LeBron rushed to sign an extension with the way this FO is operating

  17. doyerfan88

This is why you shouldā€™ve traded for Myles turner. Lakers front office run by morons.

  18. ICEINMYVEINS23

Pelinka and Jeanie only care about big names. They’re not trading any picks for role players.

  19. little_parrot

Itā€™s almost like we shoudlve made a trade at the beginning of the year.

  20. Dismal_Committee_696

I donā€™t want to waste anymore time on AD. Dude is just too soft at a position that a slight twist shouldnt hold you up at all. Iā€™m not doubting the injury but Iā€™ve seen Lebron have worst twists this year and hes still out there. I would definitely trade AD if it brought me KD, too bad the Nets are hooping and Kyrie and KDs value is higher than ever and theyā€™re out of controversy, the thought of trading them shouldnt and wouldnā€™t even cross their mind

  21. thorn4444

Honestly, the only way Jeanie and pelinka will face any incentive to change how they do things is if fans donā€™t buy tickets or jerseys which is probably never going to happen. Even with them actively screwing over a season like this with false stories about looking for deals, their Jersey sales and games are always sold out.

Just sucks that their behavior has no consequences for the team other than fans watching in frustration.

  22. nykezztv

This is not surprising. They were never going to make a trade

  23. LifeLikeClub9

this is why they waited they never wanted to make a trade anyway

  24. mclovin1696

Dude season is far from over. Stein is on crack, this is just meant to generate clicks

  25. Rentfreelakerfan

You think the Lakers told Stein this info within 2 days of AD injury lol

  26. NichJackolson

This shit doesn’t even cite “anonymous sources” or “sources close to the team.” It’s an opinion piece and nothing more. If it was a known Lakers insider saying this maybe it would be more reason to worry

  27. Agile-Caterpillar457

ā€œLoaded westā€ is hilarious. West is garbage this year.

Thereā€™s absolutely no reason to punt this season, if the plan is to be competitive for the remainder of AD and Lebrons contracts then they should be making moves like trading for actual nba players to develop chemistry and continuity. Westbrooks expiring is not opening up 50 mil in cap space for us.

Hedging and punting the season with no moves speaks to a lack of vision for what they are trying to do with this team other than milk it for money. Which is probably all they are thinking about.

  28. ArugulaPhysical

The trade should have been made in the off-season.

Now that AD is down, id probably wait until the deadline to make a decision, as by the time that comes or AD returns, we could already be out

  29. HenryGrosmont

Without AD we have no shot at contending. So, if he’s really out for a long time… what’s the point of treading water?

  30. nateXruiz

Why would we punt the season without our pick this year? That literally makes no sense
