[Pincus] “LaVine never chose Chicago. He was traded there and had his offer sheet [from the Sacramento Kings in 2018] matched,” one NBA source said. “He wasn’t going to turn away $215 million from the Bulls. No one else had that kind of money to offer.”

> Multiple sources took the Athletic story, told from a very LaVine-centric point of view, as an effort by his representation to get the two-time All-Star moved to a new home.

> “Zach’s contract was one of those deals that immediately became an eyesore the moment he signed it. He’s just not that healthy,” the source continued. “I don’t know that the Bulls have a real market for him.”

> Not many teams would consider taking on a player dealing with knee issues on such a massive contract. Multiple NBA sources struggled to come up with market value given the circumstances. The same sources agreed if there’s a price no one else would pay, the Lakers might be willing, though one didn’t think the Buss family would consider that large a contract.

> Of course, that speculation could easily be moot. As one agent declared, “[Bulls chairperson Jerry] Reinsdorf isn’t helping the Lakers.”

Choosing Chicago cause of money is still choosing Chicago

  6. transizzle

    >He wasn’t going to turn away $215 million from the Bulls. No one else had that kind of money to offer

did anyone else even want to offer that kind of money? i wonder when teams are going to not just give out these deals because it’s their own player.

I’m sure teams weren’t going to offer beal a 35% max even if they magically had the cap space, either.

not wrong. People seem to often forget that Shams is with Klutch

Y’all are supposed to be a non-playoff team in 2025 not now, suck it up so the Spurs can have a late lottery pick in 3 years.

  11. TacoooJay

“I would rather live in Sacramento than Chicago”, said no one ever

  12. SmokimNoah

So now every day stories about how much he hates it here are going to come out. That’s how it works right?

  13. Bigbadbuck

Joe Harris seth curry and patty mills + a first for lavine. Bulls get off lavine deals with shorter tradeable contracts they can send for more picks

  14. aceeeboogie

i’m okay with trading him now after seeing this lol

The way the max is designed is so flawed. Teams have no room to negotiate. Guys like Beal and Lavine would not stay with their teams if they just offered what every other team could offer. And then its seen as disrespect if they don’t offer the full 5 year max.

I remember Charlotte tried to sign Kemba to something in between what others could offer and the full max and it was a huge deal and Kemba felt disrespected so he ultimately walked. And the Hornets were absolutely right to not give him the full max.

Its just a shit deal for teams. Theres like 5 guys worthy of the true max but like 30 players feel entitled to it.

    > “He wasn’t going to turn away $215 million from the Bulls. No one else had that kind of money to offer.”

So, what you’re saying is he **chose** Chicago.

  17. bss4life20

He never chose Chicago, he just signed a deal with them for a shit ton of money, no choice in the matter whatsoever

  18. nowandlater

He could have taken less money to play elsewhere. He was an UFA and said at the time he wanted to explore the market

  19. BuickSkylark55

Must be a lot of mind readers around because lavine has never said anything bad publicly about the organization

  20. Drclaw411

If the talking heads could stop trying to force us to trade (insert player here) to Lebron in exchange for Westbrick for 5 seconds, that’d be fantastic.

  21. nooblevelum

Bulls need to talk to Lavine now. Either find out how to fix this or tell his camp to stfu so everyone can get a decent deal out of a trade.

  22. Capital-Vacation-881

Laker’s propaganda and Klutch working overtime this Christmas

  23. ridemooses

He took the money, didn’t he? Doesn’t that mean in some way, shape, or form he wanted to be there?

  24. We’re supposed to care that dude took the payday? If he doesn’t want to be there then dont sign there? The hell?

  25. No-Economics4128

This has to be coming from Zach’s agent. The old leaving no bridges unburnt on your way out.

  26. Stinky_DungBeatle

Klutch Gang represent, and by that I mean burn all of the bridges down immediately after getting paid to try and get out ASAP.
