[Lee] “It was another pivot,” Durant says of leaving Golden State. “I just wanted to play ball somewhere else. But a lot of people see it as I’m chasing something.”

> “It was another pivot,” Durant says of leaving Golden State. “I just wanted to play ball somewhere else. But a lot of people see it as I’m chasing something. And I think it probably stems when I said, ‘I don’t want to be number two no more.’ I was number two in high school, in the draft. But what I had to explain to people was, I had just lost in the Finals. I wanted to go back and win the Finals.”

> “It wasn’t about: ‘I want to be the best ever. I want to be better than LeBron or [Michael Jordan].’ I don’t give a shit about that. I want to wake up every day and do what I do. If we win, I know that stuff comes with me being the best that I can be.”

The Warriors move will never make sense, even if it did increase his chances of winning a championship. One of the top respected superstars in the world and he wanted to join the team that beat him out and receive all the backlash that came with it.

Who was he #2 to in high school? Does he mean his team or nationwide class rank?

  3. I respect the fact that he can’t be totally honest about his motivations, but it’s quite clear why he wanted to leave. Didn’t matter how dominant he was in the playoffs, or that he’s the best scorer since Jordan, it was always going to be Steph’s team.

No you left Golden State because your thin skin couldn’t handle the criticism anymore.

The only thing we thought you were chasing in BKN was a new narrative about your lack of winning without a 73-9 team with 3 HoF teammates and a HoF coach.

That being said Brooklyn KD is my favorite version of himself, it was definitely the right move for him

  5. KYRIE542

He is chasing the respect that he wasn’t able to get playing in GSW. KD still has to prove to win a chip by leading his team to the finals or deep playoff run after last year’s fallout in the first round.

when the guy who “wants to go back an win the finals“ leaves a team with steph curry on it 🤡🤡🤡🤥🤥🤥

“Chasing Kyrie” directed by Kevin Smith.

    In theaters now.

  8. xpillindaass

“i just wanted to play ball somewhere else” no reason for that?

  9. “Another pivot”

Looking for a carry but only got called for travelling

  10. BenShelZonah

Crazy how 3 of my favorite stars came to my team and I’m over it tbh. Harden got screwed over, kyrie a fool and Durante Durant.

  11. KillianDrake

That sounds like something a bus rider would say

“Pivot”. KD been sitting in some business meetings. 😭

He says ‘just a pivot’ like he’s just spinning on one foot, ending up wherever he ends up. The dude *pivoted* to change direction, presumably to head towards (in other words, chase) a situation that he didn’t already have in Golden State (in other words, something).

  14. ObiOneKenobae

If there’s anyone I would believe on this it’s KD. Dude just wants to play basketball and has gone where he thought it seemed funnest.

take a shot every time you see someone use the word nephew on this post lol you’ll black out in 15 minutes

As a Warriors fan it was bittersweet to see him go. Butter because they were transcendent with him, sweet because they had to win the Finals every year with him to avoid disappointment and winning the Finals is just what is expected. That saps joy.

Maybe that’s one reason he left. I always assumed the other things discussed at the time: he wanted to team up with one of his closest friends and to be living and playing in NYC.

Maybe he consciously or subconsciously wanted to be The Man but it’s silly for people to pretend like they know and that it was The Reason.

One thing u gotta respect KD on is this man’s a millionaire and has crazy status but lives and breathes basketball. Wouldn’t be surprised if he goes to a international league after retirement.
