The lack of defensive intensity is as a result of refs calling fouls every now and then on drives. This makes it hard to get a lil physical reason why oldheads call this league soft now

Bring back the hand check and allow more contact and watch those efficiency ratings drop like a rock. People are getting bored of only offensive basketball. There's a reason why the 90's are regarded has the best NBA decade. Not overly brutal, a balance between the offense and defensive flows and some of the best artists the game has ever seen.
all being said, i would still choose 80s and 90s nba to watch than today circus and clown league, even if they shoot more and score more , centers era of past was way more exciting and defense was lightyears from today crap

It's lazy analysis to just explain this away with "good offense beats good defense." 🤷♂ Yes the shooters of today are elite, but there are a ton of other factors at play. In past eras not only were players discouraged from taking so many threes, but perimeter offense in general was less effective because handchecking was allowed, the defender was allowed to step underneath a shooter, etc. Today rules exist to protect perimeter players which is a good thing, but now the pendulum has swung all the way in the opposite direction. Offensive players in todays' league are allowed to get away with all kinds of nonsense, palming, traveling, pushing off etc. to the point where it's a shock when an official actually calls any of these things. Today's shooters work hard on their craft yes, but they also enjoy the benefits of a league that bends the rules in their favor.

This was written around 700 years before Jesus came into the earth, yet it describes His life perfectly.
