This team is terrible. So sad to see Luka playing out there with Moses wright frank ntilikina and theo pinson. Love to see Luka show out like this but please get this man some help
This wasnt a pretty win, but in the end we did enough to grind it out. But overall I am getting worried. We are extremely thin if it comes to Guards/Wings at the moment. I really hope that those guys come back soon. Cause without Dorian/Josh/Reggie our wing rotation is more or less THJ and some end of the bench guys. It worked here against one of the worst offenses and defenses in the league. But against some halfway decent teams, it will be a real problem.
Btw, for me this was Woods best defensive game, but not because of the 4 blocks. They are nice and all, but way more important was his movement. He made a lot of right decisions. When to drop, when to hedge, when to leave his man to contest as a help defender… he did a lot of the small things right you dont really see in the box score. BUT it was still against the 4th worst offense in the league. I hope he can show the same effort and IQ against better teams.
On the other hand the Rockets did something nearly no team does anymore. They played Luka 1on1 nearly the entire game… and he punished them accordingly. Strange tactic, cause nearly all teams try to take the ball out of Luka's hand and want the rest of our team to beat them. So yeah, there's a reason why the Rockets are also bottom 3 in defense. If you give Luka the matchups he wants, and you lack great Wing Defenders in the 1st place… this is what happens.
A win is a win, but still I really hope our injured wings come back sooner then later, cause Pinson/Wright might be enough to win against the Rockets… but I dont think they can hold their own against some halfway decent teams like the Lakers and Knicks.
