My question for you guys is what do you think happens when Lebron and AD are gone? I can’t see any silver lining after this era

Tatum will entertain the Lakers, that’s all but confirmed.

  2. Jugg3rnaut85

Can I stop seeing these these people’s faces?

  3. _AgainstTheGrain_

Nothing. They’ll be irrelevant like they were after Kobe retired until Bron showed up.

  4. Rebel908

There is none, they’re in for a deep rebuild. 2024/2025 is an obstacle because the final pick for AD, so it all depends on what happens with that.

  5. if we get some picks for them maybe our scouting can find some gem idk

  6. PairedFoot08

We draft some studs but Jeanie doesn’t want to pay them so we let them go and watch them dominate on other teams

  7. immunityfromyou

It’s gonna be a rebuild. Shit happens. I mean look at how long it’s been taking the Spurs rebuild post Duncan. Good thing we are based in LA and have a rich history of winning and treating stars well. No one loves their stars like LA does. We will end up with a transcendent talent in Free Agency inevitably. Might fuck around and get lucky in the draft too.

  8. CabbageStockExchange

The dark ages again. Remember post Kobe injury how we’d try to attract every big name FA but strike out? Think that. We’d draft or sign a gem here or there because our scouting department is elite which gives us some excitement but that’s about it. It’s gonna be rough

  9. thebraavosi1

We r holding on to picks like franchise depends on it

  10. Physical-Lie-345

Writing’s on the wall. Need to trade AD which would help the rebuild by acquiring young talent to build around plus a few picks. Signing AD to another 4 yr. deal be the dumbest move by this talentless FO as they’d be lucky to get AD to play two full season’s out of it. This is why AD signed that extension too.

  11. You won’t see any lining cause you be gone too

  12. rainfallz

pelinka will get another extension, of course

  13. calimonk323

Da Lakers is the best organization in basketball. We always get the best players.

  14. The longer Bron is around, the more likely pelinka gets fired. He deserves it already though…

  15. jimmydramaLA

I think Jeanie needs to sell. The organization has just fallen behind the industry standard. The lakers used to be the standard. The league has evolved and the Lakers haven’t. The vision is so basic and trivial.

  16. TyrionJoestar

They rebuild through the draft. Contrary to popular belief, the Lakers have most of their FRPs coming up.

  17. RedLicoriceJunkie

They traded Ingram, Hart, Ball, three 1st rounders, and a pick swap to get AD.

Then they traded KCP, Kuzma, Harrell, two 2nd round picks and a 1st for Westbrook.

AD, LeBron, and Westbrook make $129.6M on a $123.7M cap and you wonder why the Lakers have no bench?

AD was worth it for a banner. But he is never healthy for long with tons of leg injuries. It is what it is.

Sure, have a multi-billionaire to take over this shit roster, cap situation and throw good money after bad to be a first round exit.

From a 40 year Lakers fan, Merry Christmas.

  18. DonDickerson

Um yeah money gets free’d up. I mean Lebron and AD account for over 100 million a year. You can find an entire playoff team with those 2 players salaries.

The Lakers will be a playoff team 2 years after Bron is gone. Hell just look at how Cleveland has bounced back after Bron left them with absolutely no one to build around.

  19. Dagenius1

I think I’m more optimistic because I’m old..like went to games in the forum with my dad , old.

To answer the question it depends on how AD leaves. I have no problem with Lebron playing out his career with the lakers.

If the lakers trade AD then they get the draft picks to start fresh. When the lakers are a blank slate again, there will be interest from other young stars in the next couple years. There’s still nothing for a players brand like winning in LA. If they have to keep AD it will be longer for them to come back but they will. The lakers results over the last 40 years show the difference between them and every other team.

And LOlol to people mentioning when free agents passed on the lakers. Just to be super clear..since Lamarcus Aldridge and Carmelo Anthony passed on the lakers for “basketball reason”…. The championship count is Lakers 1, Aldridge and Melo, zero. Toss in Howard leaving and he didn’t win until he returned to the lakers.

There is no other team in the nba like the lakers

  20. Curve-Life

I don’t see much of a future coming up, i have been a fan since 1983 when i was 8, i don’t think I’ve ever been this frustrated

  21. G-turtle03

That’s why you blow up the team and trade them while you can. Then rebuild

  22. Trojanfanmatt

Oh come on!!! Jay More is going to be a great president of basketball operations!

  23. Plumbanddumb

Start the rebuild. It’s gonna be rough but it’s needed. Tired of the endless aarp commercial.

  24. Brilliant_Inspector6

Yes, at least we have picks and cap space.

  25. MicdaWise

James Harden, KD….. or any vets that think the Lakers can win but probably won’t.

  26. Potential-Judgment-9

Lakers will always attract superstars. It really is an honor to don the purple and gold.

  27. ArtemisStanAccount

The lakers revert back to the 2017 season except instead of Lonzo Ball, Kuz, and Ingram to give us hope, it’s Austin Reaves, Scottie Pippen Jr, and Max Christie, (and Cole Swider). But in all seriousness, there’s always going to be veteran stars that fantasize about playing in LA and once Bron and Ad are gone we’ll have a lot of cap space to sign new stars and attempt to make a run. That’s pretty much what LA is at this point, young talent means nothin, it’s all about winning now now now.

  28. We won’t have to watch the lakers every week. So it’s not like there’s NO silver lining lol

  29. jedimonkey

I remember when Jim was the moron and Jeanie was the savior

  30. odinlubumeta

Entirely different kind of building. Lakers have limited assets after the Westbrook deal. Tell me who the Lakers should have got with their Walker money? Or the Nunn money the year before? Did they get guys like Reaves, Nance, Kuzma, etc in the later 1st and second? Did they develop guys like Caruso and Gabriel?

The Cavs wouldn’t trade a lottery pick to get Lebron his last chance at a championship in Cleveland. That pick was Sexton whom they weren’t sure they wanted. But they are now considered one of the best upcoming teams. You are just frustrated. It will take years to recover from the Westbrook trade.

And Rob has a number of hits and misses like a lot of GMs. Guys like KCP, the guys I already mentioned, etc. And he has some misses like the Westbrook deal and overpaying on trades and overvaluing guys like THT. You guys think he is a bottom GM. Newsflash he isn’t. You are just getting a taste of what most teams have to deal with (an average GM).

As for the future, most of it is luck. GS didn’t think Curry going to be an all NBA guy when they drafted him. It took an injury for them to learn that Draymond was way better than they thought. They missed on Wiseman (may be good but he is years away), Moody was not as good as advertised, they have misses like Bell, etc.

I wouldn’t panic. The Lakers have advantages (its how they get guys like Walker to come cheaper than normal). FA will always have the Lakers up higher than they should. So anytime they have a decent team they will attract players. Learn to not get so stressed. This team has never been a contender and you guys keep acting like they are blowing their one chance.

  31. pen_jaro

Suck for a couple of years, Draft good young ballers, trade all of then for an aging superstar for instant contention, rinse, repeat…. Or we can keep them youngins, be patient while they develop chemistry, attract reliable vet role players through free agency, win multiple championships.

  32. im-a-drawl

I’ll probably start watching euro league basketball. Find me a team over there to root for.

  33. DominoOc

This is fn embarrassing. I really hate Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka. I thought we she took over it’d be different..
Hell no. It’s Jim Buss and Kupchak all over again. LeBron is a top 5 player right now, AD was a top 5 player when he went down but somehow we suck

  34. deion_snaders

Long way to go before we have to face that question for real. A lot can happen before the trade deadline and in the offseason.

  35. Tangentkoala

You’ll have draft picks by then. Doubt AD and LBJ will retire by 2025.

  36. uncle_yugles

Gonna get the next Lebron with the 27 & 29 picks
