How Jordan Poole Countered The Grizzlies' Aggressive Denial Defense

Even though Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins were out, it was a highly anticipated Christmas rematch of the West Semifinals last year between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors, a game where Jordan Poole led the way to a convincing win over the trash talking Grizzlies. I wanted to break down how he countered against the Grizzlies’ aggressive denial defense, so let’s get to it.

  1. @Warriors Breakdown – can you please turn the music up just slightly. It's at that point where i can't hear either clearly, and thought i recognized the tune 🙂

  2. I have a questions most clips on the video i see poole taking brooks hand and swinging it on opposite direction of where poole is gonna go, is these a legal move or a violation/foul

  3. Those were all still pretty tough contested shots. Solid defense by Brooks (whom I strongly dislike so that hurts to admit), but clutch shooting by Poole. Poole is definitely Steph’s understudy and they can run the same offense for him that they do for Steph.

  4. it’s wild to see the grizz and bucks losing to teams they did last year. i hope something changes

  5. 2:15 that sequence into that shot right there is why they paid that man all that money. I love that Steve Kerr has a system in place and if a player can adapt and play well under that system then it's an automatic pay day. It's a high level requirement to run those plays.

  6. Kerr is a genius. Learning from Winter, Jackson, and Popvich really put him on a Elite coaching Level.

  7. I love the content and want to make a suggestion to make the audio better. Look into some EQ techniques to help separate your vocals and the background music. Also try a De-esser filter to smooth out some of the vowel sounds. Thanks, and keep it up!

  8. What’s exciting about Poole is that he’s definitely better than Curry was at 23yo, has better athleticism, gets to learn from Steph’s template, has a great system and elite coaching to help him succeed.

  9. IF THE GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS ARE HEALTHY BY THE TIME PLAYOFFS COME AROUND LOOK OUT BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THEY KNOW HOW TO WIN IN THE PLAYOFFS MORE THAN ANY TEAM IN THE NBA PERIOD

  10. Maybe Poole is learning from Stef…maybe not…I'm still waiting for his consistency at playing great offense & a drastic, consistent improvement in defense & ball handling…

  11. Kerr is a genius as well as cunning & ingenious as well as consistent

  12. This game was a great win for the Dubs, like the Celtics game, but I'm still waiting for them to consistently play great basketball including defense, as a team game after game. Which includes reducing turnovers AND technicals. Next 3 games ought to gauge if they've started figuring things out…

  13. Good video, but please, get a pop filter for whatever mic you’re using, the Ts and Ps are stabbing my ear drums lol

  14. Sometimes he just needs to realize he can get looks without creating them himself, he tends to complicate things by playing too fast

  15. They talk all that stuff and still can't beat my warriors just like the Boston repeat championship for my babies
