I feel like the 2021 Season ruined my hopes. At the time (on my other Reddit account, I created this as a Knicks/basketball only account) I was saying the Knicks have a chance of being a play-in team. Then it came to a point we were more than a play-in team.

We ended up as a 4 seed! I think 2021 woudlve been better off as a 6/7/8/9 seed. That entire season was a moral victory and actual victory.

We had RJ in his second year, Obi in his rookie year, IQ in his rookie year. Randle as all-nba. All that, just to follow it up with a 37 win season. I thought we’d slightly revert in 2022, maybe to that 6-9 seed but missed play-in entirely and honestly didn’t make much roster changes. Kemba and Fournier instead of Elfrid and Reggie.

It’s just like at this point I’m expecting Knicks to be .500 or slightly above. Playoff or Play-in team. No more moral victories of guys doing 30 points. It feels like guys are in these positions to do things. Grimes is promising, but with no RJ and Brunson. You hope Grimes picks up the scoring load a bit.

Listen I’m happy for Grimes. But knowing what he can do, I’m be more shocked if he doesn’t have another 30 piece this year, then I will be if he has one.

Maybe I’m being completely unrealistic (admittedly I’ve repeatedly outed myself as a unrealistic Quentin Grimes stan), but with how easily he gets to the rim along with his touch and 3pt shooting, I don’t think it’s insane to think that in his prime he could have at least one 40/50/90 on significant usage season.

if luka’s shot rimmed out, we’d be in full-fledged celebration mode today.

I want to see him with more freedom. I genuinely see a star level player in Grimes. The defense, the shot, the quick first step on the closeout, and he got a little spice on his layups sometimes
