Takeaways from tonight’s game:
* Demar DeRozan did everything tonight. This narrative about us losing games where he goes off is insane. The ONLY reason we were in this game at any point was Demar DeRozan. He shot well, carried us through the massive third quarter drought, and then made the biggest defensive plays of the game. I don’t know what more you can ask out of a player. Demar was fucking magical. 42/10/5/2/2 is an MVP stat line.
* Zach went real cold in the third quarter (along with everyone not named Demar DeRozan) but dragged it back to a decent shooting night. He hit some big ones down the stretch.
* Vucevic had another shocker. At least he rebounded well. It wasn’t pretty. He actually played some defense in OT at least. The OT 3 was also a big shot to his credit.
* Pat defended Giannis decently well, but it wasn’t a great night as a whole. The first quarter he genuinely defended him as well as anyone I’ve seen. We’ve got to use team defense to slow Giannis down and we didn’t tonight. Stacey also did make a fairly strong point about how we should be picking him up before he can get downhill. Pat was actually getting on top of guards in switches this game too which is really good to see. He was using his length and actually giving them problems before they had the chance to make moves and forced a lot of low-clock situations.
* The bench was solid today. Not great, but solid. Dragic was a big part in them not being a massive deficit. Javonte looked really rough for his first game back. Hopefully Coby tweaking his leg wasn’t too bad because he’s been really good this year.
* Ayo was passable. Nothing great nothing bad. Just a game.
* Rebounding was abysmal tonight. We can’t be giving up 20 fucking offensive boards. If Demar wasn’t out there playing at an MVP level, this game wouldn’t have be remotely close.
MVP’s for tonight: Demar DeRozan. No one else on the team was in the same area code tonight.

That said, watching him play is fucking annoying. Barrelling into every defender in sight, throwing elbows… As we saw at the end of the game and OT, once he stopped getting calls, he stopped driving and became a black hole. Couldn’t hit a shot from 5 feet away at all.
