I immediately reached out to u/mike0476 for advice and guidance. As the leader of Crown Down Town, Mike has a great relationship with the Kings. If we can get a group of 30 or more people consistently we might be able to get group rates to games (no promises). We are lucky to have Mike and CDT as a resource and a link directly to the organization.
I want to model our group similar to the Tower Bridge Battalion as an independent supporters union.
Our supporter section should elicit fear in our opponents! Arco Arena was an intimidating place to play and we can capture that same energy at the Golden 1 Center. The Citadel should be known and feared like Oakland’s Black Hole or Cleveland’s Dawg Pound.
We already have the loudest fans in the NBA. Let’s crank it up to Euro levels!
Tree City is our take on City of Trees, similar to how Portland’s “City of Roses” has evolved into “Rose City”. The rough draft of our logo has our beloved water tower stylized as a castle tower and Tree City Citadel where City of Trees used to be.
The definition of a citadel is perfect for what our supporters section is all about! Located at the Sierra Nevada Draught House we will be on high ground in the Golden 1 Center overlooking and protecting our home court!
A citadel is the core fortified area of a town or city, typically on high ground. It may be a castle or fortress that commands a city and is used to provide defense for citizens during attack or siege.
We would keep this as a loosely run organization at first but we will hold a few meetings to get board members elected. I hope to start an LLC in the future and have a professional logo for official merchandise for members.
We would use Printify for on demand merch, so we wouldn’t need to have inventory. Every cent would go back into the group, primarily for merch giveaways to members or to give to local charities.
This is in the developing stage but I would love to get feedback and try and coordinate the City Tree Citadel initially on Reddit. We could possibly start a Facebook Group or a discord as well to do the majority of our communication.
Since we don’t have an official partnership with the Kings yet, we would need dedicated members to meet early on game days to take over the rail at the Sierra Nevada Draught House.
Anyone want to meet at a bar this weekend for the first meeting? Saturday or Sunday afternoon? I was thinking Henry’s could be a great meeting space but I’m open to other suggestions.
