Why Lakers should trade Anthony Davis to Suns | Hoops Tonight

Jason Timpf breaks down a hypothetical trade between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns involving Anthony Davis. Would moving Davis be a smart move for the Lakers as they look to win their second title with LeBron James? And what would be a reasonable trade package from Phoenix in return for Davis?

  1. I don't see the SUNS sending 3 First round picks for AD, he's very injury prone. They'd be better off shopping Ayton elsewhere, like Indiana. Laker fans are going to have to come to the realization that AD's value has cratered, talented yes, but it's not a BIG mans game anymore and he is extremely fragile. Maybe The Lakers could build something around AD/Beverly for DeMar/Vucevich/Caruso + FRP. The Lakers don't want to lose LeBron next season. Keep paying the price for the 2021 RWB Summer Blunder

  2. LMAOOOOOOO the absolute worst trade I’ve ever heard 😂 there’s a reason you didn’t think of this trade first

  3. I wouldn't trade for AD if I was any team that wanted to contend. He's not fully committed.

  4. the lakers can get 5 first and two promising young guys for AD suns would have to give ayton and cp3 for it to even be slightly fair

  5. Ain't no way the lakers would do that trade. Crowder is upset about his contract and wants a bigger amount. He's not worth it and ayton is not it. I'd much rather the lakers trade AD to Atlanta for capella, bogdanovic and Jalen Johnson. The money works, the lakers get a serviceable big, a guard in bogdanovic who can space the floor and a young project in Johnson. Trey and Murray would give AD so many good looks and AD will help the hawks on both the defensive and offensive end

  6. casuals really forget AD is by far the best two way player to ever live injury or not he can lead any team to playoffs you cant sell low on the best player healthy in the league

  7. Lakers content always moves the algorithm needle. =) But, seriously, they are a mediocre team, with poor management, and little to no hope. I guess they could always hope to get another Pau Gasol type "trade," but Russ isn't worth a bag of chips (at best, and I am stretching it here, a good bench player?), AD the only player more injury prone than Chris Paul, and a 38 year old all-star? Let's not get it twisted that LeBron is still at the peak of his powers, and can carry 4 bums to the NBA finals. He does need "help" more than ever. At this point, AD was supposed to be carrying LeBron. AD just can't get it done. Sadly, LeBron would be better paired with the 38+ year old version of Kareem, at least he stayed on the court.

  8. ad literally makes the lakers finals competitors. ayton wont dod shit for the lakers if trade AD trade him for elite shooters. the lakers dont get any better in this trade

  9. I never thought bout this. I guess that’s why i come to one of the most analytic voices in Bball

  10. You making so much sense, but knowing Lakers management they won’t do something that make sense. Pelinka is dumb AF.
Just the thought, if the Suns throw in Bridges instead of picks, that would be an awesome deal.

  11. Lool if as joined the suns the lakers would be worse off. Despite injuries, AD is easily a top 3 map caliber player and he does it with ease. If the lakers trade AD it would need to make sense.

  12. Literally only thing that scares me is ads injury risk and the picks that’s a recipe for disaster, but even if ad is inconsistent if he can show up in the playoffs they will be a force so if I’m the suns I’m taking that chance. Curious how the suns new ownership situation plays a role in this

  13. The nba is such a bad product that we’re in the middle of the season with around 7 games a day and the most interesting thing to talk about is nonsense hypothetical trades

  14. I said when AD was playing mvp ball before getting hurt I would move him. And then he got hurt. Lakers just need to make a move.

  15. Been saying trade AD since before this injury. How many more injuries LA? Yall gonna be trading ankle dust soon

  16. I can understand the trade for Ayton, but why would Phoenix want a broken-down AD? I don't make that trade if I were the Suns. If anything, I would trade Ayton to the Eastern Conference.

  17. More fantasy trades!!!! The perspective and argument for the trade on both sides is very interesting content

  18. I still can’t get over this guy saying a great trade for both teams would be KD and Kyrie to the Lakers and AD and Russ to Brooklyn 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  19. Makes no sense. You want to win a🏆 so you trade AD to the western conference Suns which makes them the BEST team in the NBA for years!
How about AD, Beverly to Orlando for Isaac, Suggs, Ross, CarterJr? Magic turn the corner to respectability with AD in exchange for depth. Lakers get 3 young talented players on long term cheap deals and a microwave vet in Ross w/expiring 11m. Lakers compete this year and build for beyond.(LeBron can't be traded till Feb 2023)

Or AD, Westbrook, Bryant to ATL for Young, Collins, Capella! Great trade for both teams imo. Showtime Lakers are back and the young Hawks become Murray's (defensive driven) team with max cap space.

  20. Lol No chance, buddy. When superstars are traded, virtually every single time they’re moved to the opposite conference. To propose a trade where a team trades a superstar within the SAME DIVISION – is ridiculous and a waste of time. And you know that, Timph. 🛑🛑

  21. This is awful. I wouldn’t trade Ayton for AD straight up if they proposed it. I’d give them jae crowder for AD. AD is borderline worthless at this point.. he can’t stay healthy. Ayton is a top 3 center and is getting better.

  22. The interesting consideration in any major Suns trade going forward is that it has an owner who actually understands the game . I read some of the comments below and I do fully understand why there are those that if AD was traded then the next step would require the trading of Lebron and that is actually why I suspect that AD does not get traded. The Buss family is not going to do anything that makes the Lakers the number 2 team in LA. Even though the Clippers currently ( when healthy) have a better top to bottom team so long as Lebron is there they can at least claim to be the Number 1 team. I am going out on a limb here and speculate that if the Clippers won the title then the Buss family may decide it is now time to sell the team and cash in and Lebron is a good asset in any sale ( or they can clear the decks for the trade) . Keep in mind Jeannie has no children , is 61, so why not cash in and enjoy life ( and perhaps even use part of the money to finance the sequel to Paulie …. the Oscars love a comeback).

  23. Suns fans will go nuts if they trade for Mr Glass… Calm down … And do you really know that DA doesn't want to be in Phoenix it just sounds like you're starting 💩 … 🤦
