He is 100% messing with the interviewer. By all accounts, he is one of the sharpest guys to have ever played basketball.
But he won 13 championships in 15 years, starting with the 1955 NCAA tournament. One of the two seasons he didn’t win, he was injured. He won a gold medal during that span, too. If anyone in history were to lose count, it would have been him.
