If we do the trade machine and trade Dinwiddie and Bertans for KP Mavs gain like 7 wins lol

  2. GormlessK

There was a ton of potential if they could’ve just been on the court together consistently.

Yawn, Wood is better with Luka and 20 mil cheaper and doesn’t get injured 24/7. Dinwiddie been great if we’re talking about getting rid of KP.

Wish KP the best but let’s stop rewriting history.

  4. We saw what could have been and it didn’t work.

The problem is that porzingus is playing in a role that fits him better. He doesn’t fit what the mavs needed since he wasn’t able to finish at the rim through tough defense. And his defense became worse from his lack of mobility. I still remember the clippers hunting him and just blowing by him every time for easy layups. In New York, he was able to recover because he still had tons of mobility. When he came to us, he had lost that.

I am disappointed we lost both Porzingis and Brunson. It is kind of sad that Luka had two potential All Stars next to him and we lost both. While I think Wood fits better than Porzingis, that wasn’t really an either-or. We could have had Wood, Brunson and KP in theory.

Personally I am mixed on Dinwiddie. He has been playing/shooting well as a Mav and but his defense is poor and he is really not the secondary ballhandler we need, nor can he carry the offense when Luka is on the bench. He has hit enough big moments and clutch shots to silence the grumblings about how big of a step down he is from KP’s potential stardom, but I am not totally sold on his fit and would upgrade if I could.

And Bertans is on an expensive contract who we can’t find substantial minutes for to showcase for a trade even when our forward position is largely injured.

Of course when KP goes down with an inevitable season ending injury before the playoffs we will surely all breathe a sigh of relief that he has moved on. But all we needed was one healthy year to make a run…

  7. Still can’t believe it didn’t work out. The great mystery

KP is pretty much the same player as before except he’s shooting alot better in the short to mid range area. But still shooting 33% from 3 and shooting alot of them.

KP is an ok player that is fully capable of putting up big numbers when putting up more shot numbers. But he’s also mediocre and inefficient enough that as long as he’s got a major role you’re not going to be very successful. Being a career sub 40% from mid range and 35% from 3 just aint going to cut it with the volume he has.

KP is a bad stretch big. But he’s an ok big overall. The problem is that he clogs the lane taking a ton of mid range shots with 40% of his shots coming from there. and 35% of his shots from 3. He’s only shooting 20% of his shots at the basket. Luka as a pg is shooting 19% of his shots at the rim. And he’s shooting 10% points higher every year.

Literally Luka does everything KP does as a big but better at like 6 inches shorter. Wood on the other hand brings a totally different game with the PNR and is shooting 40% from 3 and is a career 38% shooter.

KP is one of those players that are ballers when the pressure is OFF. On the other hand, Luka under pressure is Goku.

And if he gets injured next week we’ll all remember why he’s not here.

Wish him the best of luck though, seems like a good dude.

Stop. Bad take. KP is a great player, didn’t fit with Luka.

Done. End of story. Move on.

8.5 rebounds a game is rough for a 7 footer

People want to talk about if Wood is a winning player, but Porzingis had never been a winning player. he gets hurt to often to even have a chance at that, even playing with the young goat. We traded him for a winner in Dinwiddie and that’s the right move.

Nice to see him healthy and doing something, but he’s not that guy. Dinwiddie and wood both aren’t championship level #2s but Porzi was never going to be that. At least we have a couple guys that can be that 3rd and 4th option. This team is rightfully making moves in the hunt for our Pippen.

  14. He’s been healthy ever since he stopped shaving.

  15. Unique_Trifle_4978

It didn’t and would never work out. He was always hurt, had more out games than played.

  16. Accomplished-Pear988

Lukas stats are ridiculous, and he could have easily had another 50 piece last night had he hit a few of his 3s

  17. Mishka_Shishka_

Would love to see them duel in the finals someday. Happy both are blossoming at their game.

  18. It just didn’t fit, happy for KP that he’s thriving in DC. He was always a professional here
