Here's how the Celtics can get back on track and out of their mid-season slump | Forsberg's Four

In this week’s Forsberg’s Four, Chris Forsberg does his best to keep things optimistic while trying to make sense of the Celtics’ .500-level play over the last 12 games, dating back to early December. Forsberg looks at the dip in three-point shooting among the team’s bench players, Boston’s defensive rating with both Robert Williams and Al Horford on the floor together, Jayson Tatum’s three-point shooting, and Boston’s drop in contested shot percentage this season, and explains why the team get back on track by returning to the basics.

  1. I feel like Joe should give Damon a chance. We actually did pretty good with Damon while Joe was out and then when Joe came back, it went downhill from there.

  2. Joe Mazulla must be held accountable for the very embarrassing loss. Celtics must try Damon Stoudemire, a former topnotch NBA PG, as Interim Head coach!! Celtics players respect Damon a lot !!

  3. Joe still learning why not hire a coach with experience or give Damon Stoudemire a chance he was coaching good when Joe was out calling timeouts when players needed it and making the right adjustment tbh Joe has to prove it because ime udoka did get Boston to the finals with less talent ime didn't have Malcom brogdon an robert williams was hurt also the offense wasn't this good with ime udoka we were winning off defense Joe gotta earn that position

  4. It's so obvious! ( The bench shooting ) They're not getting the ball on the move and they're not getting enough shots. They're getting the ball on a bail out pass at their knees after 15 seconds of watching the Jays giving up on trying to go one on three. That's IF they even give it up in the first place and not jack up three early in the clock or go iso one on three. Less touches no rhythm. Same situation as first half of last year. Jay's, as good as they are, got to look to get their teammates more involved. Why isn't Mazzulla telling them? Would they listen even if he did? Teams got no offensive chemistry right now just another mediocre hero ball team w two guys hogging all the shots and scoring and everyone else an after thought

  5. Joe is learning on the job. People need to remember Ime did not start off great, and people wanted him hint after that loss to the Knicks. The team will be fine, and they will get over this funk. People need to chill the second this team goes through some adversity, the team needs to fire the coach or trade this player.

  6. Lol Celtics thought early this season. The fans too. Shame they think now the team playing at the normal level ain't enough. Just not good enough Tatum is not that guy l.

  7. parse numbers all you want. make up feel good stories & show support, blah blah. The game hasn't changed; they need to rebound/box out/crash the boards so teams don't get as many 2nd chance points. And they need to move without the ball, pass, and drive, and stop hoisting so many 3s. Anyone who actually watches the full games will agree, when they lose it's preventable by doing these 2 things.

  8. They were winning games early on because they just outscored everyone with their historic offense. Now that that has come crashing down back to earth becasue it was never going to be sustainable, coupled with their no defense, we're seeing the .500 team version of them from last year. This is why i hate the 3 ball, you can never never truly be a championship team living and dying by them

  9. Team morale just got complacent. There was no way the stats going into December were sustainable, but it shouldn't have dropped THIS hard. They came in the hungriest they'd been after a finals loss and they tore through everybody. Then, their heads got big, they felt like it was a done deal and they took their foot off the gas.

They need to realize that there are no easy games. In the biggest disappointments this season, the teams that beat us shot WELL above their average. When you have the greatest offense in NBA history, opposing teams are going to turn up. If the Celtics can hold onto the resentment from last season and remember what their trying to prove, then literally no other team can beat them 4 out of 7.

  10. These slumps are an example of Tatums energy and the overwhelming amount of threes they take. So hard to watch
