Fred VanVleet Gets Real About The Raptors Struggles And Not Playing Up To His Standards

Our guest this week is one of our favorite players in The NBA, Fred VanVleet of The Toronto Raptors. This is one of the best basketball conversations we’ve ever had on the show and we’re excited to share the full thing tomorrow morning. In this particular clip, FVV addresses the elephant in the room… why The Raptors look so off.

  1. Fred you're making a mistake going public. Trying to use some "friends" to bail you out. Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

  2. Love Fred’s authenticity you really see it permeate through the team, championship DNA is still there! I do think it’s time to make some trades and commit to the tank for this year. Raps have enough young blood mixed with upcoming talent to turn things around quick! Victor isn’t the only one in this draft. Top 4 could all be special this year 💯

  3. Trying to impress any team at this point. Using JJ for some help. Disgraceful. No respect. Get the hell out. !!!

  4. Fred is a fraud, overrated as a leader and as a player man I’m sorry. This guy’s body language on the court if he struggles early-on is horrific, it visibly brings everybody down. If he’s not shooting the 3 at a high clip (which rarely ever happens) his game is barely noticeable on the court… Slow, short, inconsistent and can’t dribble. Unsteady Freddy baby

  5. All planned. "Come to the show and sell yourself there. Forget the horrible games you had played. The 29 other teams would love to have you" type of thing. What a seller. Hope Masai isn't happy with you. Stop using "WE". Say "I".

  6. Idk if it’s just me, but this whole video it seems like he’s trying avoid talking about how many minutes he plays, to me it’s obvious he doesn’t like it. He even hinted towards that at the end

  7. Freddie knows Scottie is the future with or without Pascal. His ego won't let him be second fiddle to Pascal never mind be a third option. He knows they're probably going to trade him so he's trying to accept it.

  8. Fred is wiling…he isn’t playing off-ball. He is handling the ball and rather than looking to his teammates and making them better… he’s looking for own shot. He also had a great half-season last year because of all the minutes he played and it was never sustainable. Love Fred’s back story but he’s not owning his own limitations…he’s talking to protect his brand.

  9. Raptors fans are too emotional. Both worshiping their players and overpaying their players. The idea of all these slightly above average 6'9 players doesn't work. Scottie had a good season and has regressed. FVV got overpaid and they want him gone already. It's all up to the draft to decide what happens to this team.

  10. What a great open moment . Healthy self esteem within adversity. No one can be more self critically honest about their performance. Very versatile 2 way player.

  11. Freddy a real good dude but he rich now. Has a lovely life won't every play another meaningful game in his life and quite frankly most of his haters would not be able to stay on that grind to be elite either. Thanks for the memories FVV.

  12. He needs to go back to being role player Fred ,because he just can’t stay consistent even last season fell off in 2nd half ,in a different role he probably would be better

  13. Steady Freddy, even on a podcast he doesn't get too high or too low. Just a good presence to listen to.

    Thanks for having him on

  14. Holy moly now I'm seeing why JJ was so poignant on the ESPN cast about Fred's good night in a losing effort is good for him mentally. Honestly just love all of your stuff recently

  15. I do agree the offense last year was just fred hogging the ball the whole game. Him off ball is better but because of the injuries his roles just kept changing every time.

  16. Once again, the summer pickup games have deceived the fans like it did with “Hoodie Melo”. The Raptors looked terrific playing together over the summer but haven’t really had a good stretch of games yet this season.

  17. They’re not winning with pascal as the engine simple as that.was much better visually and as far as getting everyone involved when they had Fred run the PG pascal is a beast no doubt about it but it’s not working this extremely pascal iso ball let him make every read

  18. It’d be great if you guys managed to bring Isaiah Thomas to the pod! His story is crazy!

  19. Fred saying he’s struggling with the rhythm is interesting cause his come up with the Raptors was exactly that, being in and out of the lineup and having a few moments in the limelight to shine as a 6 man. I think he turns it around
