Duncan Robinson was once viewed as one of the league’s best shooters, but as of right now, he can’t even get heavy minutes in the Miami Heat rotation due to his porous defense and his shooting getting worse. As of right now, Duncan Robinson is only averaging 6.9 PPG while shooting 33.1% from beyond the arc.

Despite his struggles, there may be some trade interest in Duncan Robinson. A recent report from Spencer Richardson of Heavy revealed the words of an NBA executive that claimed the Dallas Mavericks could be a team that has an interest in Duncan Robinson.

It’s not a part the Heat are accustomed to playing, but every great franchise goes through some form of a rebuild eventually. And according to Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports, the Heat could look to move Duncan Robinson to the Dallas Mavericks for future draft capital that could be crucial in setting up Miami’s next move.

“And Dallas is a team that had an interest (in Duncan Robinson), maybe they will again. If they were to swap out Robinson for Davis Bertans with the Heat getting a draft pick, Miami could use the pick in another deal. Robinson is a better player and might get himself back on track playing with Luka.

Bertans has a shorter deal (three years, with Robinson’s deal going four years). It would work out for everyone if the Heat can get another player for the pick,” an Eastern Conference executive told Deveney.

Though Duncan Robinson has obviously had a subpar year, there’s a chance that he will manage to turn things around playing next to Luka Doncic. Some have also suggested that the Atlanta Hawks are a team that needs to trade for him, and it is clear that many around the league believe that Duncan Robinson can be a good player in a different environment.

Earlier in the season, the Miami Heat made Duncan Robinson available in trade talks due to them already having other solid 3PT shooters on the roster, such as Max Strus and Caleb Martin.

With the emergence of Max Strus and Caleb Martin, Miami has made Duncan Robinson available in trade talks, league sources told HoopsHype.

Robinson is shooting a career-low 35.4 percent from the field and has moved to a full-time reserve role for the first time since his rookie season. He’s owed $57.49 million over the next three seasons if you include his player option for the 2025-26 season.

Parting ways with one another could be the best thing for both Duncan Robinson and the Miami Heat. Both parties would be able to get a fresh start, which seems to be what is needed in this situation.

It remains to be seen if Duncan Robinson does, in fact, get moved or whether he ends up staying on the Miami Heat. He could definitely be a solid role player on another team, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
