The Cleveland Cavaliers had four years of glory with four consecutive Eastern Conference championships after re-signing Lebron James. Cleveland had a ton of success but was left with a lot of questions after Lebron left for LA. The Cavaliers didn’t win more than 20 games in the next two seasons and only won 22 in 2020-21. Last year was much better in Cleveland. The Cavaliers missed out on the postseason but finished with a winning record and put the pieces in place to set up for some success this season. Cleveland built through the draft and made two big selections: Darius Garland in 2019 and Evan Mobley in 2021. The Cavaliers traded for Jarrett Allen in 2021 and made a gigantic move this past offseason trading for Donovan Mitchell: the single biggest reason why the Cleveland Cavaliers should terrify the NBA.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are the perfect example of how to re-build in the NBA. The team went from the NBA Finals to the bottom of the league within one season, but only stayed at the bottom for four seasons. During that time, CLE drafted well, fired a bad coach (John Beilein) and promoted a good coach (J. B. Bickerstaff), took on big expiring contracts to clear cap space in the future, signed forgotten free agents, and made timely trades. While I don't think CLE will win the NBA Finals this season, the Cavs window is within the next few years.
I've been watching the Cavs since 1993. 3 decades as a fan. This is the most exciting cava team I've ever seen. Even better than lebron's Cavs.
I think a reasonable goal for the Cavs is second round this year, Finals next year, Championship the year after.
