The Celtics looked good for a little while against San Antonio, thanks to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, but then they started to get away from what worked. Luckily, Robert Williams and Malcolm Brogdon were awesome and bailed Boston out. They let the Spurs back into the game, and San Antonio felt like they were one shot away from winning, but they never could get that shot to fall. John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal gets into all of that, and why we should probably recalibrate our expectations in games like this.

Thanks for the Locked on Celtics podcast John 🍀🍀☘️
Everytime (when the Celtics win) I REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO WHAT JOHN IS GONNA SAY
JB is starting to piss me off going to one on one instead of pass-first offense
Thanks John! 🔥☘️
70 points against in paint. Again. Without the defensive heroics of Timelord in crunch time this would have been another embarrassing loss…
Really hoping we can gain another C for stability. Mason Plumlee looked excellent against the Bucks. We need that kind of Baynes X Kanter beast type. That's the missing piece…
I don't blame BS for taking his time though, if he gets that trade right, then imo 18 is ours. It's amazing that we are the 1st seed without a dominant C
At the same time though, the quicker we can reinforce the front court, the quicker we will blow the other teams away. We'll be able to rest guys going into playoffs while other teams are eating our dust.
I can make the argument that a C has more impact for thier team overall than any other position on the court
We need more Rob. He can handle it. Give big Al a little rest and get everyone healthy into the playoffs
Rob Rob Rob Rob Rob Rob Rob Rob Rob Rob Rob Rob Rob Rob Rob Rob Williams!!!
Robert…WILLIAMS. I’d be scared if I were the rest of the NBA. Rob’s done nothing but get better each & every game and tonight he was an absolute beast. Blocks, rebounds, defense and that steal and sprint up the court was the peak! He, Brogdon and White were all fantastic. And JT was..well JT; 34 pts and 50% from 3 and the floor. Anyone else notice that the Celts start to try & run the clock out way too early? Like they’ll be up 10 and with 5 mins to go they’ll start clock watching. That leads to bad shots at end of shot clock and other teams making a run. Joe needs to address that. Also Brogdon was the best player on the floor most of the night so why did Joe not have him in during that frantic final 2-3 mins where we almost blew it? Thanks for bringing us great content during all the late nights on the road John. ☘️🔒
Agreed, it wasn't pretty. The silly passing turnovers were frustrating to see, however a win is a win, however we get there. I feel your frustrations for sure though, man.
Love the content. I hate when they want to start with iso ball and playing the clock. This team trolls so much lol
It's officially The Time of the Timelord.
Rob and Malcolm were the difference makers but your tone was a tad negative John. WC 4-game road trip , last game, glad we split it 2-2 move on to the next one.
Brogdon and Rob are great.
I care because we need to rest players for the long haul-don't care about crowing that's really silly- since we need energy it might be useful for our non coach to try to use pritchard as an energy boost as other teams sometimes change rotations- thank god Smart got hurt so Brogdon played more-killed Joe to not use Smart
Yes, this is a world apart from the OKC game. I think there's also some recency bias from THAT game here as well. That, and the fact we continue to be spoiled fans who somehow expect a championship yesterday.
Brogdon wasn't in the game because the coach doesn't know how to use his personnel- Horford allowed us to be killed on the boards- too many minutes-play kornet for 5 or 6 minutes Joe can't do it doesn't know how to use personnel
if Tatum needs to be the player coach so be it- somebody has to
May have been an ugly loss, but i will take it all day hehe ☘️💪🏽💪🏽
I dont want Romeo and Josh to beat us 🤪😅
Hope Smart is ok. Needs some rest. Pritchard will get more time. Bring him back if ok for Brooklyn on the end of the back to back. So true when you get older the sports fan thing shifts lol I’m noticing that too. This run with the Js is my final intense fandom after 3 decades of watching the Celtics all the time. Seemed like Celtics were about to cruise to a win when up ten. Luckily Brogden had a great shooting night. He even hit a basket that he threw up when fouled and was waived off. If he is going to shoot like this in the playoffs oh man that’s fantastic. Been a little surprised on how he was sold defensively to us a little high and his shooting until the last week was a tad underwhelming. So this is great to see. The Horford hibernation insight is both hilarious and spot on John your so right and I didn’t think of it until you said it. I’m glad you mentioned this because I was a little worried Father Time was emerging but this out me at ease because they need all hands on deck I the playoffs.
Brogden came out in the 4th because he had been in since before Marcus got hurt in the third.
