The Nets pulled out a huge win over the Miami Heat with an almost-buzzer-beater win by Royce O’Neale to take them over the top. But the real story here is that Kevin Durant was injured in the third quarter and had to leave the game with a knee issue. He is going to get imagining on Monday to see the extent of the injury. But even without Durant, the Nets were able to beat a full-strength Heat team on the road and do it on the back of the defense. The Locked on Nets guys break down the game, Kyrie Irving stepping up, the depth of the team, and what things could mean if Durant is forced to miss time.

If nets medical says day to day that means 10 games plus. They always lie.
He's alright, he could have played if it was a playoff game, he knows it's early January and the next 21 games will be brutally difficult with mostly playoff teams which surely could test their mental fortitude!!!
Great work as always doug and adam..missed the live steam but listening to the entire 52 mins now. 🙏 that durant is ok or we are absolutely screwed.
It all star game coming up, and kd hasn't played 2 years, so this is on cue.
Kd is fine he went back in for two possessions after that
That's untrue Doug, last year when kd got hurt, nets were also 2nd in the east
Based on trade news Brooklyn was originally going for another center. But since nic Claxton and Ben Simmons have been sharing that responsibility and with KD injury recent reports show that Brooklyn is now looking for a "star" power forward to compliment Brooklyn unit.
Four guys who stand out are Kyle kuzma John Collins Bojan Bogdanovic and Gordon Hayward.
John Collins and Kyle kuzma are at the top of the list especially kuzma who since LA had gone from a defensive player to a full arsenal caliber player on offense. A possible rotation of Ben Simmons Kyrie Irving Kevin Durant Kyle kuzma and nic Claxton could be very strong 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
John Collins though plays both power forward and center and Brooklyn wants that versatility.
Again with KD possibly missing some time Brooklyn will be even more active at the trade deadline 🔥
If KD is out for a bit Kyrie Irving Ben Simmons and Nic Claxton become the new big three and that might make Brooklyn be more aggressive in making a trade.
They apparently want a star power forward and if they get Kyle kuzma or John Collins they would have more then enough to hold down the fort and get into the buyout market to round out the roster 🔥.
Doug another great take Ben Simmons is everything we need on the defensive side but Ben Simmons is a liability on the offense side
Last 3 years kd gets hurt near allstar break…
If KD is gonna miss anytime, I’d be starting TJ with Curry 1st off the bench… Also give Sumner minutes to play some PG, I love the energy he plays with…
MVP ❤❤KEVIN DURANT PLEASE BE CAREFUL HOPE IT IS NOT SERIOUS, WE MISS YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH WHEN YOU DO NOT PLAY, THE GAME DO NOT BE THE SAME, PLAYERS ALWAYS REMEMBER HEALTH FIRST, YOUR SENSATIONAL TEAMMATES GOT YOUR BACK!! mom
Incredible win. Kept Miami score to a minimum (37) in the 2nd half. Nets have developed the best defence in the NBA. May be a blessing in disguise if KD is not too badly injured but has to sit out for a few games. If Nets continue on their winning way without him, they will be even stronger in the playoffs.
Ben Simmons is averaging only 3 drives to the baskets compared to about 13 during his sixers days and I feel like that’s not all on him. Our other two star’s proclivity to be heavy jump shot players (midrange and perimeter) doesn’t allow the team to run a fair amount of plays to get Ben Open drives or easy one on one opportunities at the rim. It will make for a balanced offense if he and Clax would get more plays in the paint every game. And I wish Ben finds that confidence to get to the rim against smaller players and use the backboard to his advantage.
Curry offensively was amazing in the playoffs last year. 14pts on 52% 3P% 56% FG% his defense was the problem lol and now he has help and we could hide him.
The Brooklyn Nets injury curse is here again…….
Without Simmons the Nets would be in the exact same position they were in last year which is basically going nowhere fast. It’s true he needs to more aggressive and overall better on offensive but his contribution on defense is massive. Every game locking down key players that would otherwise rip this team apart and creating more open look shots than any of these players have seen in their life. But please tell me more about the defense player of the year Claxton.
It’s embarrassing that you guys are happy with that closing few minutes. Nets kept turning the ball over and Kyrie couldn’t deal with the double teams, which is what he’s gonna see for the entire time KD is out. Yuta, Seth, Ben etc all revealed their flaws. Would have lost that game if not for a questionable no call at the end.
Lady year?😁 doug 1 mobth ago you guys sad that this team is not contender😂 and i get it why. i mean why month agobut commmon pls. Last seasson adam was like its regular games i dont care😁 and what happend?
Love your show though
Kyrie knew he was going to get trapped by Miami. Jimmy Butler was the big on the floor for Miami. Adebayo was on the bench. Kylie pulled up early because the Nets had the edge in size on the boards.
Man…I hope it’s nothing serious with KD. As you guys stated, the Nets are much deeper right now than they were last year when KD went down. We really need Simmons to pick up his offense a bit….more drives to the rim. T J can also pick up some of KD’s shots. Miami put a lot of pressure on the Nets defensively as did the Bulls a couple games back. Both of those teams looked really good to me. So the Nets are getting some experience playing against pressure, playoff type defense. That’s good going down the stretch. I believe the Nets can beat Boston without KD. Go for it!
