Lovie deserved a second year at least. This was a tank year for the Texans and Lovie did what he was supposed to, until he found out that he was fired no matter what. But at least they did guarantee Lovies contract.

Lovie sucked as a head coach way before going to Houston, has nothing to do with skin color. Cant blame skin color on his agent getting him a poor contract. The GM should have told Lovie they wanted specific players in the game for evaluation if they wanted to secure the 1st pick in the draft next year.

Let’s not make this a race issue, the Texans are awful as an organization and not many head coaches could do better. However, there are better options on the market that will help Young or Stroud when they draft one of those guys.

The Texans' front office is a disorganized mess. The firing of Lovie Smith was unfair IMO, given only one season to refloat a sunk ship. I do not believe it was a racially motivated atrocity.
These guys clearly didn't watch any Texans games all season. This is such a lazy take. Lovie Smith was horrendous all season. Nobody would have kept him on as head coach after all of his game mismanaging this season.
His roster is better than last year's roster(even if marginally better), but the team has a worse record. With some embarrasing history to geo with. 1st team to go undefeated in road division games and lose every other game. Didn't win a single home game. Just by adding blown 4th quarter leads to the win column alone this season they should have 7 or 8 wins. Love is a bad coach, and you have the opportunity to get a new coach, franchise qb, and develop all at the same time. These same dudes would be trashing Lovie in a few years when a young qb's potential is being wasted because he can't be developed… Somebody tell these dudes to sit down.
