They would be lucky to get anything. What about a slightly used Justin Jackson?

I remember I liked him more than Zion and RJ coming out of college šŸ’€

If his name was Frank Johnson he’d be out of the league by now

Hard pass, Cam Reddish is still a project. We have those sitting in G-League and overseas. What we need is a player than can go in right now. Sure, two second round is very little, but we can get someone we can actually use (and even maybe help career wise) that is more proven.

**In terms of actually making the deal work:**

Depends on the picks they’re actually looking for. We have 3 in this upcoming 2023 draft.

Right now we could give up the Boston 2nd (projected 60th) and the Houston/Dallas/Miami 2nd (projected 52nd) we have coming in this year. Would be fine losing both picks for literally anyone tbh, because that late in the draft you can probably get your guy as an undrafted rookie anyway.

However, there are complicated projections on that HOU/DAL/MIAM pick. If Houston goes on a little run and takes the 28th seed then that Houston/Dallas/Miami 2nd jumps all the way up to 33rd for us.

We also have Portland’s pick (projected 43rd). We could offer that instead of the HOU/DAL/MIA one, it’s got the lower ceiling but higher floor.

**Verdict:** We could technically cover the cost for Cam Reddish without digging into future seasons’ worth of draft capital. We have some choices in how we do it too. The draft picks also likely mean nothing to us, unless the HOU/DAL/MIA pick jumps into the high 30s.

The best proposal on our end is likely the Celtics (60) and Portland (43) picks and then hoping something comes from the HOU/DAL/MIA pick.

**In terms of whether we actually want Cam:**

On one hand it’s a very low stakes deal so there’s not a lot of risk for us. Cam’s got an incredible wing body, really good size, length and athleticism. Defensively he can be really really nice in the right environment and has had great performances on guys like Durant. Offensively he’s streaky as hell but he does randomly heat up and kill opponents.

On the other hand, two seconds is a deceptively high amount to pay for an expiring contract. That’s what we paid for Evan Fournier and he was a 20/5/5 player. Losing the picks is no big deal but there’s the opportunity cost that comes with not being able to trade those picks for someone else. Plus there are always big question marks about his ability and willingness to play a supporting role.

**Verdict:** Eh… It’s not a bad trade to make, it’s not a bad trade to pass on either.

If we could get him to buy into a role playing role, he could be nice for us. He seemingly didn’t want that role in Atlanta and New York. Sometimes guys settle for less if they’re on contenders, but not always.

We should definitely do something with those 2nd round picks, there’s no reason to hold onto all 3 and we don’t even really have the roster spots for them. That “something” could be trading for Cam or it could be someone else.

Heā€™s an upgrade over Justin Jackson for a second or two thatā€™s good value (if they asking for two seconds now I bet one gets it done come the deadline) I donā€™t see us doing better than Reddish without including Pritchard.
