We’re overpaying for Ben but he’s a big part of the team’s defensive identity. Defense is important in the playoffs.

I wasn’t a fan of the Kuzma fit here but it makes sense. It doubles down on our current identity. Huge wings defensively. Lots of scoring. And it’s some serious Ben Simmons insurance in case his lack of shooting is too harmful in the playoffs.
I still think a backup center should be a bigger priority but I wouldn’t be mad if we turned Joe or Seth into a player like Kuzma. Ben + Clax have been great together but their free throw shooting is a scary thought in the playoffs.

It has to be Kuzma. Everytime we play him, KD gives him dap. Seems like he would fit in well with and without KD in the lineup.
At worst we inherit his bird rights making a sign and trade an option. He steps right into a prominent role for the next month building his value and creating an offseason trade asset.
Most likely he fits in really well with the length we have out there already. He averages close to 4 assists per game.
