David Thorpe joins The Raptors Show with Will Lou to discuss why the Raptors shouldn’t make deals at the deadline to tank and get better odds in the NBA Draft Lottery.
With all due respect. Stop this BS narrative that were close to being a playoff team. Who even cares at this point if we even got the 6th seed, we have an out of basketball purgatory where we can do a short rebuild and be true contenders in a couple years. I get you don’t want your boy FVV gone but it’s time.
That MLSE paycheque must be nice 😂. But we have literally 0 path towards any form of championship. This team needs to salvage what they can. Move the starters besides Scottie get some young studs with potential/Picks and there goes you’re building blocks for a rebuild.
With the most respect intended…there’s a clear ceiling with a guy like pascal as your number 1 guy. We gotta move off the narrative that he’s “untouchable” lmao
I know Gary is younger and overall better but he needs to be paid while Crowder is a better defender and plays his role better and is a proven winner. He started on a team that went to the finals in 2020 and 2021 and started on a 65 win team last year
Disagree with everything. Tank ffs. Build around Scottie. Pascal is not getting younger. Trade fvv at least. We aren’t winning a championship with this squad. Ppl are delusional to think that. Honestly blows my mind.
Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes are on two very different time lines and, over time, trying to mix two different time lines for the center pieces for the franchise will not work. By the time Scottie Barnes reaches his prime, Pascal Siakam will already be well into his decline. Given the way that Pascal plays, his physical decline may be more drastic than other play styles. FVV is already physically declining due to his play style and body type and it's only going to get worse season after season.
Pascal doesn’t really have a go to move on offense. He is looking for a foul everytime he drives and he has a weak drive to the basket. His spin move is to predictable in the playoffs. Despite he is averaging almost triple double, it is misleading stats because when the team needed a bucket, he is unable to deliver. I don’t want to pay him $200mm for the next 4 years. Trade him and Fred coz they are different timeline than Gary, OG and Scottie. Regardless, we can’t afford to keep all of them.
We have Scottie, Pascal and OG yet we still suck. Has anyone thought maybe we need guards who can shoot? That maybe having these 3 guys on the floor they do all the same thing.
Figure what out? the position less experiment didn't work…there's nothing to figure out, the team is talented but disjointed and changes need to be made…Siakam and Scottie should stay, OG should probably stay but if someone offers a haul you consider it, anyone else should 100% be in trade talks and a lottery pick should be the goal this season…they're clearly not a good team, and it doesn't take a genius to understand why lol Do you honestly believe that this group is going to win a Championship together? if the answer is no then changes should be made…

Suns get: Joe Harris, Birch
Raptors Starters: Vanvleet, OG, Crowder, Siakam, Precious
Bench: Barnes, Shamet, otto, Young, Chris
Closing: fvv, Og, Crowder, Barnes, Pascal
