Hello & Mailbag Request

Hello Rockets fans!

I wanted to introduce myself in this space as well as ask a brief request of the group.

My name is Michael Shapiro, and I am a sports reporter for [Chron.com](https://chron.com/). I’ve covered the NBA for much of the last five years, though the passion of the Rockets’ fan base has made this role a particularly enjoyable one.

So, with that intro out of the way, here’s what I need from y’all:

We at [Chron](https://Chron.com) are asking for your questions for our latest Rockets mailbag slated to run at the end of this week. Curious about the direction the franchise? The future of Stephen Silas? The growth of Jalen Green? Ask away and we’ll get to your answers!

Really appreciate the readership and engagement thus far, hopefully we can build a greater relationship in the coming months. Post your questions below ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️

Does the top brass believe Silas is doing his job in terms of developing the talent we have, evaluating what we’re unsure of, and setting us up to be successful long term?

This is not intentionally related to the above Q but how come the last 2 times we’ve searched for a coach Sam Cassell can’t get in the mix? Guy has been an assistant forever so he’s paid his dues and is obviously respected, and I think it’s fair to say all us fans have fond memories of him. But he can’t get a meeting? Is there bad blood leftover? Was he not interested?

Why have they still not got the message we love the ketchup and mustard?

Something I’ve been asking Rockets reporters for over a year and gotten no answer to, yet…

Who was yelling “Go go go!” after defensive boards last year? Was it a player or an assistant coach?

    Follow up question (for Silas)…

Why aren’t we doing that this season?

If (or when) Stephen Silas is fired, who do we replace him with? Who is a dream coach hire and who is the Realistic hire?

We’ve really struggled in fourth quarters. What would you attribute this to?

I’d like to know what the expectations are for next season. Do we see that as another rebuild year? Or does the front office expect to be competitive and make the play ins?

  6. I would like to know what goals the Rockets have set to evaluate the progress for each of their second year players, and whether those players have met those goals based on where we are in the season.

Why has Eric Gordon not been traded? It seems like he’s BEEN done being the “veteran leader” on this team.
