Jordan Clarkson Rejects Contract Extension with Utah Jazz
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, both players have “rebuffed” attempts to lock in a long-term deal, and there are teams across the NBA that are hopeful they could be available leading up to the Feb. 9 trade deadline.
Stein specifically noted that the Jazz hoped to enter the season that they would be able to secure Clarkson, but even though they have been unable to do so thus far, it is unlikely they will trade him in the midst of a playoff race.
While Clarkson has a player option for next season and technically could exercise it, the expectation is that he would test the free-agent market provided he and the Jazz don’t reach a contract agreement before then.

Sad for jazz fans …
Ok now that I have taken a second to digest the new and calm my emotions I have a different take. This is nothing at all. This is just Jordan taking care of business. Unless the Jazz are willing to offer a big extension say in the field of 4 year 120 mil or more it make a lot more sense for him to wait and opt out of his player option then re sign with the Jazz for something they are willing to offer say closer to 3 year 70-75 mil. So all in all this is just business as usual in the NBA nothing to worry about.
Considering a new salary cap that would be implemented next year. $20M/YR will just be the standard for role players in coming years. Utah Jazz is trying to lowball him while they have the chance.

as a jazz fans he isn’t a piece for a winning team, not a good defender and poor decision making with the ball, but for struggling team that just needs a scorer and doesn’t care about winning he’ll be paid
