Nate is bad but according to the new Athletic article, Nick Ressler destroyed this organization

You should be mad at Nick Ressler

\- The Athletic (exceptionally high quality journalism that typically does not go with a story unless the sources are of a very high calibre) has reported the following:

* Getting DJM was not Schlenk’s idea but rather an idea spawned from Trae and DJM over the summer which was pitched to Nick Ressler
* Schlenk believed that DJM was a good player but that the price to get DJM was too high (mortgage our entire future (3 1st rd picks) + getting rid of an exceptionally good bench piece in Danilo Gallianari, and effectively forcing us to jettison Kevin Huerter due to the incoming DJM causing us to go over the luxury which tiny-dick Tony Ressler didn’t want to do).
* It’s clear that, while Nate is NOT a good coach, that he, Schlenk, and others in the front office knew that we wouldn’t have enough 3 pt shooting coming into the season. These concerns were largely ignored because **27 YEAR OLD** Nick Ressler has a ‘strong relationship’ with Trae Young and wanted to do what Trae wanted.
* Tony Ressler doesn’t know shit about basketball but his son ‘thinks’ he does. To Tony, this is just a fun little diversion for his wealth – not something he’s actually knowledgable about. This is evidenced by his insane flip flop on the contract status of schlenk and other members who were recently released from the organization:

>If ever there was a time to flip your front office upside down — let alone to hand it over to a group that’s this green — this isn’t it. And there’s this revelation, too: Despite the Hawks announcing that Schlenk would still play a complementary part in their decision-making process after spending the past five-plus seasons heading their front office, league sources say he is no longer part of Atlanta’s operation in any way and is free to leave for another organization. As our Shams Charania [reported on Dec. 30](https://theathletic.com/4046211/2022/12/30/nate-mcmillan-hawks-considers-resigning/), the Hawks also dismissed three long-tenured and widely-respected talent evaluators in senior adviser Rod Higgins, director of pro scouting Stephen Giles and Vice President of Player Personnel Derek Pierce.
>
>**Never mind that Ressler gave Schlenk and his staff extensions last year and is known to have said internally that he wanted them to lead the Hawks through this decade.**
>
>As Fox Sports’ Ric Bucher [reported recently](https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nba/nba-front-office-confidential-james-harden-back-to-houston-rumor-bewilders-nba), league sources confirmed to *The Athletic* that Nick Ressler’s effect on the decision-making process played a pivotal part in the power dynamics that ultimately lead to Schlenk’s exile. This was a bit of an open secret around the league, and it is clear that Nick Ressler’s voice is being heavily considered on all things Hawks these days.

* Trae Young is a truly gifted and genius basketball players – but he has maturity issues and his absence in the game against Denver as well as a terrible year shooting wise has shown that he his word can’t be gospel when it comes to running the entire basketball organization. Nick Ressler has given him the keys to become bigger than the organization itself which is the hallmark of a poorly run organization. In ANY sport, the one thing that should never change is that the player can not be bigger than the organization. This is especially evident in the better-run teams inside Atlanta (see Freddie Freeman and the braves etc.).

It’s disgusting. I’m not spending another dime, wasting another minute, or signing off on a 27 year old (someone my age) running the organization I’ve grown up with and loved. Nick Ressler is a piece of shit and everyone needs to get on board with boycotting this shit because it’s rotten to the core.

I’ll just be mad at everyone, except Korver, until proven otherwise

What I’m getting is that if Travis had his way, we’d have Kevin Huerter instead of Dejounte Murray… I don’t think that’s the huge indictment that y’all think it is, but that’s just me

Difference of opinion with TS = he’s a piece of shit? Weird. TS wasn’t exactly a genius either.

The organization is clearly in shambles *but* did yall really watch last year’s team and just think we should’ve ran it back? Everyone was happy with the Murray deal at the time and honestly i still have faith in it. A defense oriented guy and second ball handler next to Trae is crucial. They have just took turns struggling so far.

Shipping Heurter to save money sucks for sure but at the same time he would’ve definitely blocked AJs minutes/development. I am in no way claiming i trust Ressler, Fields or GM Trae more than i TITS but i think in the offseason we rip the Nate bandaid off and if we nail the right hire we can turn this around.

Yes we need some shooters but I don’t see how y’all can watch our team last season and not see that we badly needed a secondary ball handler and some perimeter defense to take pressure off Trae. I don’t see any reason why Trae and DJM wasn’t a good deal. I would give it more time than less than a half a season to make that determination.

Also, the NBA media is going to try to poach Trae and get him away from Atlanta. There’s gonna be “trade rumors” and “bad vibes” surrounding him for the next couple of years. Same thing they did with Devin Booker until they started winning.

  8. We need to start publicly harassing this dude at games and let him know what the fans think
