Their PG mentor is the same but Gabe is a better defender

Heard Van Vleet is top three in the NBA (maybe number 1) in allowing the player he’s guarding to blow by him.

I mean, we’ve gone from Clown Stephen A purposefully mispronouncing his name as an Olympic starter to comparisons to all stars 3 years later. Gabe is our 2025 starting PG no doubt.

I would absolutely love to have Gabe on the Raptors, and I also get VanVleet is struggling, but cmon man Gabe is averaging 8/2/2, and VanVleet is averaging 18/6/4. Also, VanVleets biggest problem is his inefficiency, and Vincent is shooting sub 40%, so it’s not like he even has him beat by much there.

And as for defense, Fred has definitely taken a step back, but the guy just missed out on all defense last year, and he has some of the best hands for a guard. Yes, he’s slow and gets blown by a lot, but as long as he doesn’t guard quick guards, then he’s still a solid defender

Would be cool if we could flip Lowry and the 2023 FRP for FVV and Thad Young.

Heat actually give guys plenty of rest and Spo doesn’t call out guys publicly so maybe Fred would appreciate here 🤷‍♂️.

A Fred+Herro backcourt would work defensively pretty well too.

It’s always my comparison for Gabe. I hope he grows to be an All-Star and earning more than 100M$
