No Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons means Brooklyn problems in Nets loss

The Nets played their second game following the Kevin Durant injury and Ben Simmons was a later scratch from the lineup as well. It spelled problems for Brooklyn who lost their second game in a row, this time to the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder. Once again, Brooklyn had trouble scoring in the fourth quarter, mustering just 22 points and being outscored by 15 in that frame. It was a carryover issue from the Celtics game. Kyrie Irving struggled from the field, Joe Harris missed wide-open threes and it was another loss for the Nets.

  1. I am going to go with this is an expected loss to a team on a huge run that has just beat big playoff teams including the Celtics.

Bulls got away from the Nets with lots of passing, OKC is a passing team. Both have more than iso ball between two players. The Nets don't have huge defensive depth so struggles with teams that spread the ball a lot.

Missing Simmons hurt, especially for turnovers being higher without that playmaking and his steals add pressure on passing teams that was missing.

Box outs sucked from both teams this game.

Dort got way too many open looks as a streaky player that when he hits early shots continues all game, but they left him open that was a big mistake.

Also Giddey always plays so well infront of big crowds and New York. He loves that stuff and it should be expected him to play better in this game as well.

  2. If we make any trade I’ll probably be happy. If we could somehow make a trade for Caruso and/or Bamba I’ll cry tears of joy. We need to get taller and stronger. It doesn’t have to be all in one player

  3. After Cam Thomas helped short-handed Nets rally past Pacers before, why I seldom see him play? Why VC is benching him considering the team needs his shot making while KD is out?

  4. Kyrie takes on too much pressure when he’s labeled the “best player” he acts different

  5. I called it on your Podcast before the Celtics game… Bens gonna all of a sudden have back issues again… Guy doesn’t wanna be blamed for losses!! Giddey is everything Ben should be on offense, even after missing a few shots early the kid kept shooting and attacking… Bens gotta get out of his own head or he’s going to become unplayable/untradeable…

  6. I'm okay with this lose
It's just obvious that Joe harris aren't that guy to be our best shooter ,wing player
Kuzma is , we gotta bring him an any cost
And kyrie have to step up, we need his efficient scoring moving forward until kd is back

  7. They benched cam thomas a shot creator of incredible talent. He is the missing link. He lead in defeating the great pacer team single handedly in the 4th quarter

  8. anyone thinking #10's "back soreness" a preparatory move in anticipation of ducking the Philly game? Or, conversely, resting up for it?

  9. What make you think that they will win on the road, if they couldn’t even beat the OKC at home?
Just look at their upcoming road trip.

  10. I gave Benjamin so many chances 😂😂😂 i dont know what to say now… this man is done . GM has to make a move

  11. It's time to have a conversation about Ben..the bloke has been healthy for about a total of 8 weeks in the last 3 years, clowns around the NBA saying he's somehow "faking it"
Obviously haven't watched how badly he was managed with the Sixers.
Brooklyn nets sitting him at least is a good sign, the Sixers would have played him,the Sixers have alot to answer for, worst organisation in the league

  12. Just like last season when KD got hurt now its being exposed how horrible of a roster has been constructed for a so called contender. No wonder KD had enough & demanded a trade or marks to go.

  13. So JV is saying he can’t use a wing player like Kessler who plays well in a team structure oriented offense instead of with players going ISO and expecting him to make every outside shot when he is occasionally found. The guy is also a good defensive rebounder and should have been given some minutes with Ben not playing.
The Chicago bulls are able to move the ball quickly and run plays for Vucevic to be most times a breath away from the rim for easy layups..Is it too hard for JV to watch some of these plays, watch how Westbrook blows pass players for layups and even Sumner’s way of scoring and do same for Ben to get his scoring up into double digits?
We not even able to create good shot attempts for a player like Watanabe.
    Not sold on JV yet..

  14. That was painful to watch. The Nets really should have won this game…they were up by 10 in the third quarter…they should have put their foot to the pedal then and open it up. They just kind of sauntered along and let OKC back in and then they couldn’t make a basket to stay in the game. I really don’t think OKC played that well, rather the Nets were completely flat. I didn’t see a lot of energy.

  15. It seemed like JV was constantly moving people on and off the floor. Can you do too much of that? I felt like Claxton and Curry played well…everyone else not so much. We will now see what this team is really made of

  16. This team is just like the sixers yo lol when yall seen good games from Ben yall was hype and happy but when he has a couple not so good games . He sucks, trade him lol

  17. People are focused on the Offensive struggles but again I’m focused on what our team let the other team do and I’m not surprised that an increase in minutes for Seth Curry and friends meant a OKC specifically their wings went to town.
And this is what I keep complaining about. You can be as offensively productive as you want but if your individual matchups go off it negates your offensive production. Shia, Dort, and Giddey went to down. Claxton had a good game but clearly their defensive ability is significantly weakened when they have to rely on Seth Curry, Patty Mills, and to some extent Irving because it’s harder to hide him when there are multiple small guys on the court with him.

Telling that not even Cam could get in this game. I would not be surprised if he is trade fodder come up.

  18. Nets counted all the success playing teams without their best guys now it’s happening to them. No excuses
