Indiana Pacers Connected To A John Collins Trade

The Indiana Pacers have nearly $28 million in remaining cap space a month out from the NBA trade deadline. That makes the Pacers a popular trade partner for almost every team in the league. However, Indiana is also making a playoff push. That has the Pacers looking at upgrading their roster, ideally by adding a young forward. And that desire has Indiana linked to John Collins of the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks have struggled this season, and Collins has been in trade rumors since last summer. Atlanta has been rumored to be interested in moving Collins and the $102 million he’s owed from this season through the 2025-26 season. Given Indiana could absorb the entirety of Collins’ $23.5 million salary this season with ease, it makes them a natural trade partner for Atlanta. The question comes with what the Pacers could send the Hawks, beyond the ability to rebalance their cap sheet. – Jake Fischer/Please Don’t Aggregate This Podcast

  1. I think the trade that you had just clarified makes allot of sense and I would try to get Myles Turner in that deal because the Hawks does need some size up front and some shooters and since Travis Schlenk isn't in charge of the GM postion anymore I think that Landry Fields will pull the trigger but we just have to wait and see, but the Hawks do need to make some trades to avoid playing in the play in tournament 😉

  2. If the Hawks trade for Buddy Hield, I would hope that they would trade him to a third team for defensive help.

  3. Myles Turner is in similar boat as Collins. Pacers been playing trade rumor with Turner just like Collins. It was heart breaking how the Hawks did Collins dirty. Collins is an underrated and underutilized player. He said many times he wanted to retire as a Hawk. After years of these leaked trade rumors they broke Collins’ spirit. He is a highlight reel player that can bring much excitement to any team when they play him right. I’m thinking Turners feel the same way as Collins. As a hawks fan, I really think we should keep Collins and work some plays around him.

  4. Why would the Pacers do this deal? This move doesn’t give them a young player or draft capital. It’s such a weird lateral move that makes them worse. The Pacers offense only works because of Buddy Hield’s consistent spacing.
