Okoro is our best option at the 3 long term.
I’ll make my case:
1. He’s super young, at just 21 he’s a perfect fit with our timeline alongside our core 4
2. Unlike many of the options we’re seeing (Kuzma, Oubre, etc.) he doesn’t try to do TOO much on offense
3. He’s a DAWG defensively. Straight up locked down CJ McCollum who’s a top 20/25 scorer in this league. He had him in a freakin straight jacket today
4. While he’s not as long as Oubre, he’s 6’5 and has a 6’8 wingspan. He’s also really strong, so, like Draymond and PJ Tucker he can guard bigger guys
5. He’s hitting his shots lately and frankly doesn’t need to do much on offense anyway. We already need to give Mobley the ball more
6. He’s a good slasher and is great in transition (something we don’t have a lot of)
And lastly, we can’t afford anyone truly better. 3&D wings are hard to come by and extremely valuable, any decent option is worth at least a FRP which we don’t have. We can get a good shooter, or a good defender but not both. Okoro is already a good defender and I think he can become a good enough shooter that they can’t Ben Simmons him.
