The Thunder are in the hunt for a playoff spot, only 1.5 games behind the Clippers for the 6th seed in the Western Conference. After beating the Brooklyn Nets behind Josh Giddey’s 28 points, it’s time to ask if Sam Presti should start cashing in and turning this team into a contender.

re Isiah Joe: got lost on defence – not remembering schemes and rules – in IJ's defence he was young, on limited minutes and desperate to impress – gambled on D and Doc rarely plays youth. I would have kept him but…..I'm not running an NBA team – great addition to OKC
The lineup of Giddey Shai JDub LuDort and Krich is versatile and can defend close outs

should have brought up the chip engelland acquisition on the staff when bringing up the better shooting
Their bench players are also putting up numbers. Tre Mann, Wiggins, Poku before he got injured, Joe and J-Will who is also a rookie.
Pokusevski got injured, OKC started cooking.
Shai/Giddey/Dort/JDub/Poku is OKC's worst lineup by far and also its' #1 most used lineup.
Just swapping Poku for a legit bench level NBA big in Moose changed everything, and still they don't always start that lineup
Poku has disgustingly bad net rating in every lineup and gets destroyed on defense. Him getting injured was addition by subtraction
Low hanging fruit but they could really afford to move some pieces and bring in more forward depth with guys like Jae Crowder or John Collins type players. But whatever happens this front office is really earning their money and we as fans can only hope this kind of speedy rebuild becomes more and more common.
Loving what I'm se8ing from the squad this season. When considering all of the close losses we've had this season, we could easily be 5-8 in the West. Regardless of the outcome this season, I'm excited for the future of this team.

Heβs versatile on defense, heβs already one of the best passing bigs in the league, and his jumpshot is coming around.. canβt wait to see what the future holds for him

Jus last year people were saying the thunder are the worst team In the NBA and we should send the team back to Seattle and presti was a terrible gm even tho we only missed the playoffs 2 years prior to trading cp3 they only say our future is bright when we start proving them wrong.
They are just a blast to watch now β¦.canβt wait till next year with the addition of Chet !! Donβt forget to mention Poku β¦.he continues to show improvement every game as well !! Thunder up β¦.going to be a blast in the very very near future

They have so many positives.More importantly it's a collective improvement in triples.There best 3 are still improving in Shai & Dort then u have Giddey who really expidired the rebuild last season.The last piece in Chet as our best centre for sure we would have another 3 wins without a doubt.But the steal of the draft J-Dub has seamlessly earnt a starting spot & did a replica of what Giddey did last season grasped his chance & locked his spot as a starter.I see J- Dub as making the 2nd 5 in the ROOKIE teams like Giddey.They will do a lot better & win more games with Chet next season.The guards will be hitting there standard 50-60 pts a game by next season.And when Shai has a average game & hits low 20's the young ones have to step up & cover which they have done once or twice this season.They make the play ins then finals next season a West conference a yr or 2 later then a ring they will make a movie abt this.Thats the plan anyway.

We need to trade up in this years draft, sign veterans with playoff experience, and get chet back and then make a blockbuster trade next year or the year after and weβre a contender
I really think they need 1 or 2 more players to fill out the roster then they have a real chance at making some deep playoff runs

I think Jaylen Williams(Jdub) is going to be a superstar. Isiah Joe is a real steal and is really a good addition to the team. Really exciting to see what the Thunder is going to be.
This is my team Iβm betting on going on a run post all star. A lot of young teams get it clicking around that time. OKC is fun
the signing of isaiah joe and advanced stats at that value is reminiscent of moneyball but for nba lol
U replace Muscala with with Chet and that team is hella good. If Dort can pull his efficiency together that makes things even better. And not not to mention, if Poku can live up to what he has shown he can be, thats a fantastic sixth man, OR someone u can slip in the starting lineup over Dort if they dont wanna go with Giddey at PF. And then as u mentioned u have Joe's great shooting. The weakest defender there is Giddey, who at least is good on the help defense to make up a lil bit for his man defense. Hopefully Chet doesnt turn into a Zion with injuries.

thereβs no way jaylen williams is only 6β5 π. he has to be at least 6β7 bro. and his arms are crazy long so his impact is felt so much on both ends. great help defender and so so versatile. itβs so easy for him to finish layups with that wingspan. he leads all guards in dunks this season. this okc team has a bright future for sure. with the synergy they have right now and pokusevski back in the lineup soon i see them getting into that play in tournament and maybe pushing to the 6th seed! theyre only 2.5 games behind. this is the most excited i have been as a thunder fan in a loooong time
My only worry with super good up and coming teams is salary cap. Like if Giddy, Shai, Williams, and Chet are all all-star to near all-star level playersβ¦ itβs hard to believe theyβll be able to keep it all together while keeping decent role players like they do now.
