There are some serious problems with NBA officiating rn. When it comes to contests or block/steal attempts I swear Iâll see 5+ wrong calls in a row. Foul calls when itâs not a foul or no foul when it was a foul. Was just watching a college game last night and it was not a problem. Refs have a very difficult job but some combination of recruiting/training must be messing things up. Glad they are calling travels and carrying, please do. So so many bs foul calls that game (and across the nba all season long) where our guys had their hands straight up and are called for fouls, but that play wasnât called a foul.
Foul baiting in an unnatural way, traveling/carrying, have been addressed. Letting verticality come back and actually getting the calls right at least most of the time when players go for steals or blocks needs to be addressed now.

In the modern NBA you are penalized for being bigger and stronger than your opponent. I think that is a key reason why going small is such an effective strategy. Bigs looking to penalize a team for going small have to do it knowing the smaller guy is allowed to rough them up in ways they can’t pay em back. (And the “small” guy is still gonna be 6’8 250lbs)
It is something frustrating about being built around herky jerky ballers like RJ/Brunson/and Randle. Their play style should draw a lot of fouls (and then Randle and RJ don’t even shoot those well). But smaller, smart guys consistently get more foul calls. They need a flop coach or something

This is why players flop, if you fight through contact then you get no call, but if you just fall over then that same exact contact âaffected the speed/balance/quickness/rhythm of the shotâ

so moving forward, if you hit a shooterâs arm AFTER he releases the ball, itâs no longer a foul?

Rj just doesnât get the calls other players get..
Iâve seen plenty of players shoot and then get hit on a late close out when the ball is already in the air.
The refs have been horrible lately.

That’s just them coming up with an excuse for a missed call as usual
