[Dinwiddie on the comparison between Luka and Harden] “Luka participates on the defensive end.”

“I don’t necessary think it’s a bad comp. I think where there’s a separation between Luka and Harden…I think Harden probably played with a little more pace. So that would be where I’d give him an edge. But the edges that I would give Luka, and these are pretty big ones, he participates on the defensive end.”

Always interesting when players get candid with their responses.

Uhhhhh he definitely participates I guess

Only a matter of time before the “Luka Doncic Defensive Juggernaut” single drops

Bruh lmao. Luka wouldn’t know defense if it tickled his belly

  4. Usual_Adhesiveness92

10 years from now people are gonna assume Harden just cherry picked the whole time

  5. Harden has literally been better than Luka defensively this season

  6. Defensive participant of the year award incoming.

  7. RunAndDunkMan

Luka has literally the same weaknesses that Harden had/has on defense lol

Solid post defender and very good rebounder for his position but also BBQ chicken for anyone on the perimeter and often falls asleep on rotations

Luka gets a lot of steals, but so did Harden at one point. You put both of them on the worst opposing offensive player so they have energy to do their thing offensively.

The hope with Luka is that he will get better on that end since he’s still young. He always talks about working on his defense but it’s been a very slow process. Whereas Harden is who he is at this point.

I get he’s your teammate but pick a less obvious lie lol

Harden was pretty good at defense a few years ago

This coming from the guy who shills cryptocurrency lol

When he’s not pissed because he missed a field goal or didn’t get a foul call he participates 60% of the time.

  13. Participates lol, that there is a backhanded compliment.

He’s a big body that can cause problems in the post, but man Luka is such a fucking cone on the perimeter. I don’t see how anyone can argue otherwise.

well Luka isn’t having one of the worst D-Raptor in the league.

Thats you Spencer, worst defender on the team by a distance.

Never understood why people that are clearly way worse than somebody else at something they dedicated their life to trash talk.

Also strange because it is a trash take, Harden is the better defender

And I’m over here thinking NBA players know more ball than me, hilarious.

Sometimes the players are the biggest casuals

Harden hasn’t been that bad for us this year on defense. Not great, but nowhere near the liability his reputation would imply.

Hardens defensive effort is generally fairly low, but he has been a bit better than I expected, particularly in fourth quarters where he dials up the effort a bit

he has quick hands which enable him to get a steal or deflection here or there, and he is strong enough to switch onto bigs. Saying that, his foot speed is a real issue against quick guards.

Harden had tremendous post D on the Rockets (haven’t watched an NBA game since Tillman bought the team). He was just bad at defending guards who moved around a lot off-ball, which became a glaring weakness vs teams like Golden State, our most high profile matchups during his prime.

Harden after 2016, excluding his recent injured-hamstring-period, has been a good post defender. He is an okay help defender as well, he can read well the offense to get a steal. His biggest problem has been chasing after screens, and transition. Luka has had pretty much the same problems, but he also seems to lose his footing on the post more times than not. Ironic, as he has some on the absolute best post-footwork on offense.
