He’s probably the 1st Celtics coach that I can vividly remember watching
More famous for being to the first player to hit a 3 pt shot. Coached the Celtics in the early 90’s including the last seasons of the Big 3 and Reggie

Remember the Zip Boys? Think it was Kevin Gamble, Reggie Lewis, Brian Shaw maybe? Anyhow, great memories.

RIP Coach Ford. He was at the helm when I first started watching the Celtics with my father. Thanks for being a part of those memories.

That’s sad, terrific Celtic.

I met him in 81 or 82 when he came to the North Andover YMCA to talk to the kids who played in the under 12 leagues in Haverhill, Lawrence, and North Andover. Don’t remember a thing about his talk but he told he “nice follow through” when I stopped up during a drill. 40 years later and I still remember that, a little encouragement to a child can go a long way.

My college team played his Brandeis team when he was the head coach. I got to shake his hand after the game. I will never forget that.

Like a few of the other posters. The 1st coach I have memories of as a Celtics fan. Used to watch games on Fridays nights on SportsChannel New England.
