  1. NBA will not shorten the schedule bc it’s so much money lost. The liability is on consumers who bought the tickets. Maybe some insurance mechanisms can be introduced to refund or whatever 😂.

  2. Let’s solve the back to back problem by eliminating all-star weekend. Then add a week to the schedule but God please end games that aren’t competitive because Luka doesn’t play. Next problem is often injured superstars. Minute restrictions in the first three quarters? I do not know just trying to come up with some kind of solution. If the players don’t want to cut salaries and owners don’t want to cut games then you have to do one of those things. Solve the problems and let’s move on. Or just televise playoff games and eliminate games that have virtually zero significance.

  3. It's simple what's wrong with the hawks if you're not a casual or a trae young apologist. He's a smaller more inefficient version of Houston harden who turns the ball over like a 2k iQ player with a worse shot selection and worse defender than harden. He won't play off ball which would actually benefit him and his team so they run an actual offense not just PnR 95% to see if u can get a lob. Almost never running easy actions for collins or hunter to get them going they're annoying to watch offensively bcuz if they incorporated hunter more offensively and run less pnrs and more off ball actions they would easily but 6 games above .500 bcuz this would make everyone want to play defense bcuz they feel more involved offensively…so they're defense would be better…dont let his assist numbers fool you dude only passes to get assist majority of the time and also he has the ball a lot… trae young is the obvious problem bcuz of attitude and the way plays.. either trade him or he has to change his mindset or they're never reach they're potential.

  4. Brian stating the listeners are smarter than the average fan and meanwhile I’m googling what “minutiae” means lol 😂

  5. The fans need to step up and stop paying for tickets until the players stop "load managing". The players need to understand the job they signed up for.

I wonder if they thought about hiring some "high-end" mathematicians to make these schedules more palpable…

The way they pay these players needs to change. It shouldn't be a "fine" not to pay, but you just dont get paid when you don't come to work.

  6. Here’s a thought.

    1. Establish a league compensation fund
    2. If more than x of a visiting team’s highest compensated [or other “objective” measure] players don’t play in a game AND those players did play in the game before that game AND the game after that game, then all ticket purchasers for that game would be entitled to a partial refund paid out of the compensation fund

  7. Love the NBA but a majority of these guys are soft. The NHL has an 82 game season and these guys get pummeled every game and make way less. NBA guys making 30 plus million and are playing when they want to. I.e. Kawhi

  8. 50 game season plus a mid season tournament to win a first round bye in the playoffs

  9. An executive saying that risk should be borne by the customer and not the corporation is as 2023 as it gets.

  10. Kind of an easy fix. Make a minimum number of a games a.plsyer must sit. So if they are listed out, they have to be out at least 5 games before they are eligible to return. Give teams a certain number of rest days per season that have to be schedule at least a week prior and can only be used on home games.

  11. Correction: Dejounte DID choose Atlanta, if you really listened to the ATS podcast you’d know that

  12. Did bobby marks just basically say the regular season is a sham and NBA fans should know better than to buy tickets cuz guys might sit? Really? That's the sport now

  13. I'm sick of being a Hawks fan, unless we go on a 10 game win streak I have no faith in this team

  14. Hawks lost last game because of a bogus foul call that was proven to be wrong. Should be a 6 game win streak. Not worried about it though. Seems like my hawks always play poorly the first half of the year and pick it up at the end. Likely due to the immaturity of our young guys. Wish we had some real vets coming off our bench.

  15. I'm an NBA purist. 82 games is the season. Why not look at expanding the roster limits? As we speak Carmelo Anthony, Hassan Whiteside and other capable players, with entertaining styles are sitting idle. Bottom line ESPN is making up this concern.

  16. CBA needs to make it known players sitting out they better be willing to lose money. We the fans make the league so when we not seeing our fav players play it’s disappointing

  17. All teams have bad losses Atl is no different. DJ has made it clear if it wasn't SA it was ATL something that he actually said not speculated. The reason he is in ATL is bigger than basketball 🏀

  18. Trae and DJ are 2 Ball Dominate players, This would definitely NOT work out for this System

  19. 43 games are enough games (home and away withing conference, bi-annual home away with the other conference) all stretched to the length current season, with 3 days between games. That way, every game would be at least twice as important, the players would give their best (since they'll be rested) and the competition would improve tremendously.
The TV rights won't be affected at all, since instead of 12 games per night you would have 6 at most and people can keep track of everything. Now its a mess.
Short term the league might suffer a bit from ticket sales, but long term it would be a lot more attractive for viewing.

72 is still way too long

  20. A good friend of mine has been going through some hard times during which he and his family have had to make some huge sacrifices. He worked double shifts along with a few side jobs all month just to get Tickets so his son could see Steph and the Warriors for his birthday and guess what? The Warriors didn't play SEVEN players!! It honestly wasn't even the same team. I felt horrible for him because he worked so hard so his Son could see his favorite player. Tragic

  21. You don't have to shrink the schedule…
You have to make all major awards "minutes played per season contingent. No awards won, no supermax contracts

  22. If teams played every team twice plus teams in their division 3 times that would be a 62 game season

  23. I love the nba, been watching a lifetime from overseas, but truth, load management and the disappearing of post game are true, true problems.

  24. Bobby Marks argues that NBA fans that pay astronomic tickets prices should understand the NBA is a 'buyer beware' market and that they should somehow spend hours and days looking over schedules and injury reports to determine which games they will attend. He says that with a straight face and without shame and then defends the fact that many teams routinely keep players out for many reasons by now, only some of them related to actual current injury. Incredibly cynical take.

  25. The league should institute some kind of rule where the players only get paid for games they play unless they have a confirmed major injury. No point charging the obscene prices to watch games and give out huge contracts to players if the underlying assumption is that they're only going to play 80% of games, it just hurts the paying customers.

  26. the main difference compared to the premier league, is that in football fans fill the stadium to support their team no matter what, not in order to watch the stars of the other team… if cavs fans want steph then perhaps they have other issues to resolve first

  27. Lol, buddies, it's your fault, you (America) are the ones that are mixing sports, service and superstardom (that is idiotic by itself).
