Shams on Kenrich Williams: “They could trade him today for a first-round pick, but they’ve held onto him. … When this team wins big, Kenrich Williams is gonna be part of it.”

I think it’s cool that we have Shams reporting this from the team side, saying they know they can get a first-round pick for Kenrich but they’d rather keep him. And then Zach Lowe saying Kenrich’s people reached out to him to tell him to stop putting him in trade articles because Kenrich doesn’t want to go anywhere else.
Which means we have trustworthy people reporting both from the player side and the team side that they want to keep this going for the long haul. Just nice to see that level of commitment from a dude who is so important to the culture of the Thunder.

I really dont know what kind of role he’ll play when we compete. Even now. But I’m guessing small ball 4 will be it. Right now he’s surviving as a center but when we have expectations, he’s definitely not gonna hold up.

Yeah Shams knows what he’s talking about. Very few reporters I trust when it comes to OKC but he’s one of those.

Presti saying no to an FRP is his anime character development

Kenny is Nick Collison 2.0.
Keep him.

I think it’s a terrible idea because he’s really not that good. He’d be nice to have as a depth player on a championship team but he’s not someone that should be getting too many meaningful minutes. At least trading him for a first would mean more ammo to make a splash trade in the future.
HOWEVER I trust presti so whatever he says, I’ll put my faith in

Good luck trading for that pick and then trying to find a ‘Kenny Hustle’ with it. Trading a dedicated player, with on-court and off-court value and then trying to replicate it in some 19 year old kid isn’t that easy. Glad he’s staying. In several years, he can pick out an office with a view and be that team mentor all while throwing paper airplanes at Moose in his office.

Kenrich Williams is the type of role player every team wants. There’s only so many spots on the team and Presti decided he is worth one of them for the next 4 years.
He does a bit of everything, and I wish there were more players like him on the team during the Russ and KD years.

Lots of the teams that would want to trade for him don’t even have better records than us or hardly do. We got enough picks, keep him around. He’s loyal to the franchise and does everything you would want a vet to.

The dude has a mullet how you gonna trade him
I’d rather die

The Thunder have three impactful role players in Williams, Dort and Joe, who they got practically for free.
Not too shabby.

Even teams like the dynasty Warriors need players like Kenny Hustle to stick around for the long haul. He has size, shoots it at a good clip, passes well within the offense, dives for loose balls, and plays defense. That will get you minutes on any team. I hope he’s here when we finally win that chip.
