Defensive issues for Vuc aside, this team plays its best basketball offensively when Vuc touches the ball at the top of the key. When doing so, he consistently looks for an outlet to either an open shooter on the wing or will drive to the hoop, in the instance with Miles Turner two nights ago. This also allows for more offensive flexibility in that Vuc has decent dribbling/handles so you can run a high pick and roll, where either Vuc gets some room to hit the jumper if his man goes under the screen, gets an undersized defender if the opponent switches, or can pass to the screener rolling to the hoop if the defense is late on the screen.
As many here know, the Bulls are at their worst when Zach and Demar dominate the ball by bringing it up, dribbling the shot clock down then dump to the guards and wings standing on the corners who were standing waiting to see what Zach and Demar do with the ball.
Billy needs to instill getting the ball to Vuc at the top of the key consistently and running motion or pick and rolls to allow more opportunities for others on the team to get involved offensively and force Zach and Demar to stop being so ball dominant and stagnating the offense.

I don’t understand how it took them this long to figure it out. We’ve been knowing since last season. The problem is they start the game going through Vuc, but completely disregard him in the 2nd half.

I understand where you’re coming from and I agree. I want to add that splitting that idea with any paint touch from a driver would help as well.
Im all for back to the basket Vuc offense. I want our guards getting downhill and to the basket more often. It seems like our offense is being set up sorta late pretty consistently. Every team has that problem sometimes, but the Bulls seem to lose a sense of urgency for a spurt of time after that late introduction into the offense.
So yeah I think getting Vuc the ball in the paint more often would be a good way to get the offense started.

I always thought that bringing vuc meant that we were going to try and do something similar to what those boys in Denver are doing. I honestly didn’t think he’d be a pseudo third option spot up shooter.

Billy Donovan has zero idea how to utilize Vooch and it’s quite possibly his biggest flaw as a coach

At the very least the offense should start with a Vuc paint touch

The reason they don’t run through Vooch all the time is that they one, can’t get the ball to him efficiently enough, especially when defenses adapt and cut off passing lanes and two Zach and DeMar default to hero ball when things get rough and refuse to actually follow play calls. The two of them were literally waving off plays as Billy was calling them in the 4th quarter of the Pacers game. When the leaders of the team go it alone the rest of the team isn’t going to work.
