Mavericks trade rumors are heating up because Luka Doncic and the Mavs are struggling. The Mavs are 2-7 in their last 9 games, and Jason Kidd’s team is in desperate need of reinforcements ahead of the 2023 NBA trade deadline. Could the Mavs look to their fellow rivals in the San Antonio Spurs for upgrades to Mark Cuban’s Mavericks roster? Jakob Poeltl, Josh Richardson and Doug McDermott have all been the subject of NBA trade rumors throughout the 2022-23 NBA season, could they be heading four hours north from San Antonio to Dallas? LJ Ellis of Spurs talk on the latest Jakob Poeltl trade rumors:
“A scout for a team in the Western Conference told me that he believes that the Dallas Mavericks are the dark horse in the Poeltl sweepstakes. “[Poeltl] would be a talent upgrade in a position of need and he’d be a great fit for Luka’s read-and-react style,” the scout explained. That said, I haven’t heard of any trade discussions between the Spurs and the Mavs on the Poeltl front.”

  1. LJ Ellis of Spurs talk on the latest Jakob Poeltl trade rumors:

  2. I wouldn't trade for him if that's the case you might as well just go ahead and trade for bojan and Noel

  3. Jason kidd needs to be better every second year if him coaching has come with hossible defense

  4. Given the limited assets the Mavs currently have, I recommend the following trades. Note: I made sure it works under ESPN NBA Trade Machine plus all of these trades fit together and is fair to all four teams and is within Dallas' budget. Here we go. Please forward to the Mavs –

    Dallas Mavericks-Sacramento Kings Trade (C)
Sacramento to Dallas – the following:
Richaun Holmes (PF) $11,215,260 for Three Years Rating: 74

Dallas to Sacramento – the Following:
Reggie Bullock (SF) $10,012,800 for Two Years Rating: 74
Theo Pinson (PG) $1,836,090 for One Years Rating: ??
    Dallas 2023 2nd Round Pick
There is No impacts on either team’s win/loss record. Sacramento has lost faith in Richaun Homes and wants to get rid of him and his salary.
On the other hand, Richaun Homes would be an excellent fit as a backup center/Power Forward coming off the second unit (Bench – not Reserves).
Reggie Bullock would be a player the Kings would like to have.
Both teams win with this trade.

Dallas Mavericks-San Antonio Spurs Trade (C+/B-)
San Antonio to Dallas – the following:
Jakob Poelti (C) $9,398,148 for One Year Rating: 77
Josh Richardson (PG) $11,615,328 for Two Years. Rating: 77

Dallas to San Antonio – the following:
Four of Dallas’ Second Round Picks which they use to move up into 1st round picks.
JaValle McGee (C) $5,461,219 for Three Years Rating: 76
Davis Bertans (PF) $16,000,000 for Three Years Rating: 72
Dallas loses one more game while San Antonio loses nine more games.
Jakob Poelti is not resigning with the Spurs so they need to trade him for something.
Josh Richardson is a good backup but he is overpriced and no longer fits on a rebuilding team. JaValle McGee will eventually become a good though not great center. He needs to take his lumps in real game time which would work in San Antonio since they are not interested in wins right now.
Bertans needs a change of scenery. San Antonio is in rebuild mode and wants to lose, get draft picks plus get young players for the future. Both teams win with this trade.

    Dallas Mavericks-Charlotte Hornets Trade (B+)
Dallas to Charlotte – the following:
Tim Hardaway Jr. (SF) $19,602,273 for Three Year Rating: 78
Dwight Powell (C) $11,080,125 for One Years Rating: 75
Dallas 2027 First Round Pick (Top Ten Protected)

Charlotte to Dallas – the following
Terry Rozier (SF) $21,486,283 for Four Years Rating: 81
    K. Oubre Jr. (SG) $12,600,000 for One Year Rating: 80
    J. McDaniels (PF) $1,930,681 for One Year Rating: 74
Dallas loses one more game while Charlotte loses eight more games.
I hate to lose THJ but we will come out ahead with these two wing starters.
Dwight Powell is not resigning with the Mavs so lets trade him and get some value for him. Charlotte is in rebuild mode and wants to lose, get draft picks plus get young players for the future. Both teams win with this trade.

    Dallas Mavericks Starters
Point Guard. Shooting Guard. Small Forward. Power Forward. Center
    Luka – 94 K. Oubre Jr.-80 Terry Rozier-81 Christian Woods-83 Jakob Poelti-77
    Bench
Point Guard. Shooting Guard. Small Forward. Power Forward. Center
    Josh Rich-77 Dinwiddie-81. Dorain Finney Smith-79 R. Holmes-74 M. Kleber-76
    Reserves
Point Guard. Shooting Guard. Small Forward. Power Forward. Center
    F. Ntilikina-73 Jaden Hardy-71 Josh Green-74 J. McDaniels-74. None
I used ESPN NBA Trade Machine for the Calculations

  5. Nico Harrisson is terible MG and Jason Kidd is terrible head coach. His defence is terrible and players – specially Luka are not good mentally pepared at all.

  6. really wish someone else ran this podcast. I catch this from cast from time to time but this guy doesn't even like the Mavs. PLEASE Chat Sports, put this guy on some other team's pod and find a Mavs fan to run this one.

  7. Mavs are low-key, almost a lottery team. Maybe this is the year they can actually win it and get Wemby! If they don't win the lottery, remove the protection and convey the KP pick to NY, then load up for a second All-Star caliber player.

  8. Get Daniel Theis as a backup center or power forward. Get Payton Pritchard or Dennis advija or myles Turner or og anouby + van vleet

  9. The Mavs need to let Luka be the point forward that he is. They need a good guard to share the ball handling and backcourt defense duties. They need a talented athletic small guy. There are reasons why they went far with Brunson.

  10. Surprised! This guys trades are usually Bertans and a 2nd for the other teams best player 😆

  11. Naz Reid, Clarkson and Burks are possible. Maybe Crowder for low on top!
Naz Reid is highly underrated and Mavs style should be better working for him!
This guy can make 14Pts./10Reb. at DAL and hit 3pointers! Also a hard working player

  12. Karma. Mavs give up JB and get nothing in return. This is on management not the players.

Still if shots start falling the Mavs can make a move in the West. 2nd in free throw attempts; almost last in FT makes percentage. That 2+ pts/game would win 3 or 4 more than current record. Middle of the pack in FG and 3PFG percentage for a team that's built to get open threes. Can't defend for some reason, but nobody in the West can defend as evidenced by the increase in scoring.

Mavs don't have trade assets anyone wants (other than Luka, maybe Dinwiddie, Wood, Finney-Smith). Gotta ride this out and get some of these other guys off the books next year at trade deadline. If they start shooting better, great. Increases their trade value and maybe make some noise in the playoffs.

  13. another weak & soft player..your trade rumors in non sense..thats why this team is always weak & soft because of.this type of.players😃

  14. break it all down and start over, in 1.5 years if they do what Utah did, then luka could do the rest.
