They also mention that even with Myles being extended, teams could look to still trade for him due to the cap friendly nature of his deal and his now 3-year extension. This is purely speculative, though.
Please no.
Please yes
Sure whatever. He’d be your typical 8 or 9th man on the bench
Would rather have Vanderbilt but he can’t shoot
Would love vando with this team. Not a great shooter, but I think he is solid defensively and has potential to grow his game.
Problem with trying to acquire Vanderbilt is negotiating with Ainge and does he really raise the overall talent level of the roster enough to move the needle?
Collins’ contract could be seen as a positive or negative, and it depends on whether you believe his last 2 years are a byproduct of Nate’s system and moving away from including Collins more offensively.
I’m of the persuasion that our coaching staff is light years better than Atlanta’s from the standpoint of being modern and unlocking player’s strengths.
Would personally much rather prefer Vando over Collins
DO NOT deal with Danny Ainge I swear to god that man is the devil in disguise. The shit he’s been able to pull off is disgusting. If we get Vanderbilt somehow we would be giving Hali, Myles, Mathurin and 2 FRP. All jokes aside Vando would be a amazing add, and the Donovan Mitchell deal wasn’t too bad so ainge can be a good guy but he also will try and fleece you.
i like both options tbh. Collins and Vaderbilt both fit next to Myles wonderfully on defense. on Offense Collins is just clear cut better than Vanderbilt but i think Vanderbilt has potential to grow a bit. He just doesn’t have much range which is a bummer.
on the flip side, Vanderbilt + Jalen Smith/IJax is not that ideal. Collins fits a bit more seamlessly with the roster as a whole.
Vanderbilt for a late first and some filler salary wouldn’t be horrible. Great defender and rebounder. Very limited offensively, but the team wouldn’t need him to score. He could gel with this core.
I like Vanderbilt, but at this point, don’t think it makes a ton of sense to give up assets for role players who eat up cap space.
Better idea—> draft a Vanderbilt-type with Boston/Cavs pick.
Said it a ton on this sub but FO doesn’t need to take a big swing for established guys like Collins or OG to compete. It’s not in their nature to make big swings for commodities with high value, KP isn’t going to be fleeced like how Ainge wanted McDermott, Turner, and Oladipo for Hayward in 2020.
Vanderbilt is a great low-risk reclamation project that fills a need for our roster. It’s the same situation with Toppin, and the team could theoretically get either guy by trading away the odd fits of our team, and if they work out, great. If not, then FO can’t feel too bad as the people they got rid of had no place on the team regardless.
People shouldn’t feel so bad about trading Duarte. It sucks but his ceiling was always supposed to be an immediate contributor to a contending team, which was what the Pacers *were* trying to be and failed miserably. He could theoretically stay with the team but he’ll be wasted as he doesn’t have the starting SG spot locked up (that’s Mathurin’s), nor does he have the 6th man role locked up (that’s Hield’s).
Seeing as how FO essentially got a 2020 lottery pick for Torrey Craig last year, I think they can do it again this year. Granted he’s been struggling and his contract situation was iffy at the time, but with Vanderbilt or Toppin, the team would be in control of their futures.
YES, I’m so down for this. Perfect age, size, and position that we need. Also, is a great defender and rebounder. I think he would be significantly cheaper in a trade compared to someone like OG. Personally, I would love to have Vanderbilt on the team.
Would be absolutely perfect next to Turner. Hard-nosed, good defender & low usage.
The only problem is his contract situation
would rather use those assets to make a move for Jarace Walker in this draft. But for the right price (and, come one, this is Danny Ainge so it won’t be) Vanderbilt would be interesting.
Makes sense. I remember a lot of buzz about Pritchard wanting Vanderbilt when he was coming out and even thinking about trading up to get him
