[Simmons] Embiid grabbed the MVP race by the balls. And as you know I’m a Jokic guy, but I’m also … when somebody’s great, somebody’s great. Embiid absolutely destroyed the Nuggets to the point that […] he’s the leader now for me for MVP.

Starting around 44:50 on Bill’s latest podcast.

If Bill Simmons is saying this I think the end times are among us.

  3. edwardsscreenname

This feels like a scam. Am I being scammed?

Damn mother fucking straight … he did !!! TTP !! FTC !!!

  5. bravof1ve

Hopefully enough voters realize that giving a guy a 3rd straight MVP while he’s been destroyed nationally by the guy he’s been dead even with at the position for the last 3 years would be embarrassing

  6. Off topic question. But what do you think are the chances the eagles can win the Superbowl?

Watched my first two games last night, in like a decade or so, and it seems like there is a quarterback difference?

I asked my friends and they all said it’s still better than the sixers getting out of the first round?

this is just so he can say “he lost it” at some point after not even voting him for the all star team. Embiid would need to average 47 and 18 the rest of the way to keep this spot. Tatum is getting his vote 100% and he already knows it

  8. It’s so crazy one game can swing people like this. Both ways too bc we lost to Denver bc of bones hykand last yr, Joel got dinged for it

  9. Bogie_Baby

i agree but i also find it stupid how one game in the middle of the season can have so much weight on the race. embiid should win it this year regardless, just for being snubbed the last two.

I’m not in favor of posting Bill Simmons shit even if he’s saying things we agree with. Dude is a clown and his opinions are beyond worthless.

We gotta keep it up as a team. Aim for that #1 seed in the East, and at that, best record in the league. Both of those are attainable, and if we finish strong, we’ve got a shot at getting our guy across the finish line.

It won’t matter. Some bullshit will go on later season that they’ll use to justify robbing him for the third year in a row

  13. JojoSixers

I think its fair to say that Embiid beating up on Jokic is the main reason the Eagles won.

  14. JokersRWildStudios

HE CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THISSSSSS!!!!!!

  15. 2ndRoundEuroStash

I literally screamed fuck off when I heard him say that

Let’s not disrespect Jokic. He’s a great player and runs the offense for his team. He certainly deserves MVP too. But if I were a voter I wouldn’t give the 3rd MVP to him. He already got his and in those two years he had 57% and 58% win rate in the regular season and didn’t even make pass the first round. Giving him a 3rd MVP is putting him to a place he does not belong to. It’s not rewarding him, it’s destroying him. Imagine him achieved something that Lebron and Curry never achieved and got eliminated again in the first round by the Lakers or the Warriors. All the fans would turn against him.

  17. Leeroy_Jenkums

Dude got called out and is now thinks saying this will serve as damage control. Fuck bill Simmons and fuck the Celtics

  18. DapperCoat

Gotta build the hype so when he misses some games down the stretch the narrative can shift back to the classic “He has the MVP in his hands every year and HE fumbles it by getting hurt/sitting”

  19. SamHinkieKnew

Guys, we’re still a month plus away from the “Why isn’t anyone talking about Jokic/Tatum doing X” article by Zach Lowe or Kevin O’Connor that will swing the MVP voting to somebody that isn’t leading the league in scoring while also being a top 10 defensive player.

  20. hasordealsw1thclams

This just proves how stupidly narrative based the Ringers jag offs are about the award. Embiid destroyed Jokic last year too, the team just blew it.

  21. whatever happened to voter fatigue. was a very real almost forsure thing. like normally in the past or really up til now. there would be no way jokic could win no matter what due to vote fatigue. weird its not a thing now. i mean there would be no other mvp cept bron since his 3 year til like 2 years ago. although you could say that playing in the weakest conf like in the history of weak conferences might have contributed to voting but i doubt it.

and yet he will come off the bench in the All-Star Game – the Philly hate is strong
