The Knicks reportedly want OG Anunoby at the deadline… But is the Raptors' asking price too much?

Alex goes solo to break down the Knicks’ reported interest in OG Anunoby. What do the reports say? Would Anunoby be a good fit on the Knicks statistically and on the court? And most importantly, is the Raptors’ asking price too much, or do the Knicks have the pieces to make a deal work?

  1. The knicks hos make deal with Detroit piston. Because Detroit have the first round picks draft Detroit have this first picks Victor guayama .this night night draft the knicks hos trade for Victor guayama..make deal with Detroit piston. For take Victor guayama.

  2. I would trade RJ Barrett for him do what you have to and get him off this team him and Randle just don't work.

  3. I GOT A NOVEL IDEA, HOW ABOUT LETTING OUR YOUNG GUNZ CONTINUE TO DEVELOP AND TAKE THEIR LUMPS LIKE GSW, GRIZZ, NUGZ DID INSTEAD OF TRYING TO AVOID GROWING PAINS, EVER HEARD THE PHRASE, PRESSURE MAKES DIAMONDS? WELL FANS BUSTS LIKE PIPES EVERY TRADE SEASON, IT'S WHY THE KNICKS ARE CURSED,! WHY ARE WE TREATING OG ANUNOBY LIKE HE'S A SUPERSTAR? HE'S NOT EVEN A STAR YET??? THIS IS ANOTHER KNICKSIAN SIDE MOVE WTF TRADE! OG IS INJURY PRONE AND NOW YOU WILL CREATE A LOG JAM AT THE WING POSITION, WHAT WAS ALL THE FUSS ABOUT LETTING THE YOUNG PLAY AND ABOUT DEVELOPMENT, WELL YOU'RE TALKING OUT OF YOUR BUNG HOLE IF YOU THINK YOU WON'T BE HURTING GRIMES, BARRETT'S DEVELOPMENT AND BY THE WAY, U COULD BE HURTING QUICKLEY'S AS WELL IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS AND THEN SOME OF YOU FANS WILL BE BLAMING COACH THIBS ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE PLAYER NOT GETTING ENOUGH MINUTES! POTENTIAL CHEMISTRY ISSUES VIA LOG JAM!!! THE NETS ARE 4TH IN THE EAST, 3 GAMES AHEAD OF THE KNICKS AND THE ALL-STAR GAME HASN'T EVEN BEEN PLAYED YET! I SWEAR KNICK FANS ARE LIKE CHILDREN, JUST MINDLESSLY RUNNING AFTER THE SHINNY NEW TOY AND TOSSING IT ASIDE FOR THE NEXT. THE KNICKS ARE ONLY 3 YRS REMOVED FROM BEING A DUMPSTER FIRE AND KNICK FANS FORGET THIS! STOP PLAYING YOURSELVES OR WITH YOURSELVES, THE KNICKS ARE RIGHT WHERE THEY SHOULD BE IN THEIR DEVELOPMENT.

  4. Man ppl killing me with these "picks" The Knicks don't draft well and are a good enough team that the picks will be late teens, maybe early 20s if we aquire talent without losing players.
The Knicks have 2 picks in 2023, both will be out of lottery, add one more pick and salary filler (Fournier or Rose)
I fully support a trade for a 3&D player/ big wing, it's a position we desperately need. If Siddiq Bey is available, i'd also inquire about him. A cheaper option.

  5. I would trade RJ and obi for OG and Gary Trent jr..RJ has to go..RJ and OG are pretty much the same player except OG is a better defender..If we get OG we need a go to shooter to pair with him..Not RJ..IMO or trade just pics and fillers and eventually use RJ,Obi and Hartenstein in a big trade for a true number 1 option

  6. Ya this offer is not going anywhere. You got to decide if you are bargain hunting or you actually want to bid against other people for scarce resources. If you think your bargain shopping then take a look around the league for underpriced assets and you'll get a deal somewhere for some fringe players that you can take a gamble on. If you are actually after desirable resources then you got to bring real money to play. Jerami grant and Malcom Brogdon are definitely not comparable players in value to OG Anunoby. Grant is too old, a similar offensive player but no where near the same caliber of defensive player. Brogdon at his peak was better than Anunoby but when he was traded he was no where near that player given his age and injuries. Brogdon today is 2-3 yrs away from retirement. OG is one of the top 5 wing defenders in the league year in year out with an offensive game that doesn't help or hurt you. He's not just any role player he is one of the best role players in the league.

If Chicago is asking for 2x 1sts for Alex Caruso, Spurs are asking for 2x 1sts for Jacob Poeltl and Hornets are asking for 1+ firsts for Mason Plumlee then it will take at least 3x 1sts if not more to get OG Anunoby. Maybe they will be picks from good teams but they will have to be unprotected. Getting 3x 20th picks for OG Anunoby is simply not worth it. The average 20th pick doesn't make the NBA. Your expected value out of 3x 20th picks is one bench player. You have to remember virtually all 450+ players in the league were 1st round picks at some point. The total number of 2nd round picks and undrafted players in the league at any one time is like under 20.

We have to remember that first round pick have a huge variation in value. 21th and lower picks have virtually no value just like 2nd round picks. 11-20th pick have moderate value. 6-10 picks have high value. 1-5 picks have very high value. Is Anunoby worth 3x top 5 picks? No way in hell. Is he worth 3x 6-10th picks? Probably not. Is he worth 3x 11-20th picks? He's probably worth slightly more than that. Is he worth 3x 21-30th picks? He's definitely worth more than that. Just compare the expected values. Roughly they should be; 3x top 5 picks = 1-2 all stars, 3x 6-10 picks =1 all star. 3x 11-20th picks = 2 bench players. 3x 21-30th picks = 1 bench player. Cramming 2-3, 21-30th picks and hoping to land Anunoby is a joke.

Also unprotected picks aren't worth that much either because for most good teams these are no different than 21-30th picks. The value of the knicks unprotected picks are roughly 11-20th picks. They aren't worth top 5 or top 10 picks so you can't trade with them like they are worth that. Frankly if I am Toronto I am losing value to trade Anunoby for 3x 11-20th picks. I might do it because of salary or timing window issues but from a straight value consideration I wouldn't do it. The Rudy Gobert trade is so bad not because Minnesota gave up like 5 picks and a few pick swaps. If Minnesota was as good as they thought there were going to be, these picks were all supposed to be 21-30th picks and the trade would be worth it. But it turns out Minnesota is still bad and Gobert looks so bad that he has lost value since the trade. So Minnesota probably traded away a bunch of top 10 picks and 11-20th picks and with bad enough luck even some top 5 picks. That is what makes it one of the worst trades of all time.

  7. Great take. I think OG would not be a good fit Offensively for the same reason We can’t get players like Obi, Mitch, and Grimes going consistently. This offense is based more on drive and kick. We don’t have the ball handling/ball movers to get them the ball. But defensively???? My Goodness. I would offer our first top 2 protected and the Wizards pick, or they can have both the Pistons and Bucks pick and our first in 2024 unprotected. Along with Rose and Cam (as you stated) we have to make a 1st and 2nd round selection in this years draft. Too much talent and developmental players available.

  8. If the trade for OG is too steep… i would try to go after either mikal bridges or cam johnson. They are 2 good wing players that can score and defend, if the suns continue going down, they should try to persue them imo.

  9. Have they looked at Siakam yet? Siakam & Jaylen Brown are who’d I want the hard intel on.

  10. It would be cheaper to go after Caruso. Doesn't sound like OG will be happy being the third or fourth scoring option.

  11. Anyone who’s been around this franchise long enough knows…if there is a player the Knicks are genuinely interested in getting, whatever said player’s asking price “rumor” was, will end up being 10 times LESS than what the Knicks or any other team ended up offering, leaving everyone stunned in the end!

  12. The New York mids 😂😂 yo Knicks fans will take anybody and sell they soul to do so smh after 25 years I mite be on my way out.

  13. I am thinking that it would take two players that are basically similar in stats but quite different in playing style. O.G. would bring improved rebounding and he is second in the league with steals. Only player that comes to mind would be R. J. for O. G.
It could be with some draft swaps and players from the bench who want to get more playing time elsewhere.
FYI, the Bonus of course would be R.J. being from Toronto and is part of the national team coached in the off season by Raptors coach Nick Nurse.

  14. BTW the only reason I mentioned R.J. for O.G. below is looking at the two teams and where they need some improvement. New York needs help in both the offensive and defensive rebounding plus someone who has a stronger presence on D.
Toronto needs a better wingman who can both shoot and drive while complimenting Scotty Barnes who the Raptors want to build around.
Bonus to New York is it gives them more cap space, so just my guess.

  15. You will be shell shocked by the OG return if you think Brogdon and grant are worth half as much as OG lol

  16. Y’all better get OG while and if y’all can, knicks fans talking like they have a lot of options and the same team that passed on Donovan mitchell when y’all were well equipped to get him now look what he’s doing on a team that’s better than y’all. If y’all keep y’all core and add OG that’s actually a team worth respecting and being scared off as a top of the conference squad. Y’all big 3 is pretty good rn but y’all could actually not be mediocre at best with a 3&D player; y’all supposedly already have y’all wing that can score on 3 levels so you don’t need OG for that his shooting from 3 and guarding the best player should be enough. Y’all aren’t doing anything but making the first round interesting and punishing an extra game or 2 if y’all don’t get him. But if you do 2nd round this year is actually possible but y’all giving up Obi toppin 4sho idk what this dude talking about

  17. You’re 💯 on what to give for OG. He’s a good player but not a game changer. I think having OG with help RJ improve his Defense. We cannot give Grimes in that trade either. A Grimes, OG, Mitch lineup will lock up teams. This also sets the clock on RJ to get it together or he’s gone. Good clip bro.

  18. Obviously I’m a raptors fan so I’m bias in the opposite way you are but I’d argue OG is more valuable than Rudy. At least I’d much rather have OG.

Just looking at counting stats. OG’s worst season in the last 3 years, he averaged the same amount of pts as Goberts career high (15.9). Not to mention OG’s never had a season shooting 35% or lower for 3. Then OG’s obviously averaged more assists and Gobert’s averaged more rebounds.

Now defensively, not only does OG have higher odds at winning DPOY this year but he’s also (even according to you) a far more versatile defender. Which is only becoming more and more important as guards continue to take over the league.

Now you add in the fact that OG is 5 years younger, has far less drama surrounding him, has stepped up in the playoffs (rather getting exposed) AND he has championship experience.

I CAN understand arguing that Gobert is better than OG but to argue Brogdan is closer comparison… come on.

PS: OG almost went for 40 against the Knicks 😅

  19. I’m telling y’all as a raps fan masai is looking to fleece the fuk outa whoever wants OG. So be prepared to giving up like obi toppin, cam redish and like 3-4 unprotected first rounds 💀

  20. 3 picks for OG is hilarious. Symone eho lays thst is a fool. The a Andrie Bargnani all over again. That is more thr Toronto paid for Kawhi Leonard.
