  1. If you are looking for good back up centers, why not Enes Canter or Cody Zeller? The only reason Canter isn't in the league right now is his political views against the sweat-shops in Communist China. There was a day (pre-Nike and pre-globalism) when his political views would have been celebrated and not excoriated. I, for one, would welcome a man of such high moral principle who stands up for the unheard to his own detriment.

  2. Great break down as usual Jake. I personally believe that trading away Jonas Valanciunas would be the absolute worst thing this team could do. The best ability is availability, and Joonas Valanciunas is the one guy on this team who is always available and healthy as well as consistent. It’s not his fault that Willie Green has refused to utilize him properly.

  3. Locked on Pelicans is probably the most reliable Pels podcast. It's the only one which streams everyday no matter what, if we are facing a good moment or a very bad one. Many other shows, regularly on air when we were 2nd in the West, suddenly disappeared, I wonder why….hmmmm🤔
Thx Jake for being consistent e for your passion 💪🏻 Go Pels

  4. We have capital and teams know we’re fairly desperate for a trade. Or that’s how it seems from the outside looking in.. I don’t want a trade unless that person moves the needle for us. Otherwise, we’ll just get fleeced. Everyone wants a trade so bad. I don’t.

  5. Better to trade Zion, I know he is a beast however the point is always injured.

  6. Alex would be best for a contending or near contending team that needs no other pieces but a player that brings his skill set. You don't need scoring but can use a high IQ defense first ball handler and perimeter defender who can guard 1-3? His intangibles can lift a GOOD team higher. A struggling team that needs other things like the Pels? Not so much. I mean he's on the Bulls and they're in 10th place. The Bulls are better with him on the floor but "better" does not equal anything unless you're close to something very good or great already and need nothing else. If traded the Bulls will not be better for it. They'll sink further unless compensated with another player who can do…something. But if traded to the Pels or similar team unless in need of a back-up PG he's not going to move the needle much. Put him on a solid winning team looking to get over the top or take another step and he will help them get there. But Pels are sinking atm, not rising. AC won't help much. Get what you need then/and a player like AC. That is the way. The top five or six teams in each Conference could all use Caruso to do what he does. Very high value for those teams. Others? Only if you NEED a solid back up PG who can defend. Or maybe your starting PG is injured and you need help at the position? But typically you don't need to give up two first round picks to get that.

  7. Trade Zion for Randle, Dude plays bully ball, has a jumper, can shoot the 3points, better rebounder and most of all healthy.

  8. The Pelicans have to ask themselves "what are we trying to accomplish this season?"

If it's just the playoffs, they can stand pat and do nothing or make a small trade. A lot of people keep suggesting that health is holding this team back from greatness. While that might be a factor, there are other factors:
●They can't make three point field goals
    ●Defense has not improved
●Willie Green's rotation is questionable at times
●When they get to the free throw line, they can't make free throws when it matters

All 29 other teams saw what the Pelicans did last season and they're ready for them this season. The Pelicans aren't sneaking up on anyone this season. Everyone's game has to take a huge leap from last season and some players haven't done it:
●Herb Jones is limited on offense
●Devonte Graham points are down from last season
●Jaxson Hayes has not improved at all
●Zion & BI can't avoid injuries (Some players, while very talented, are often injured, like Anthony Davis).

If the goal is to win a championship this season, then they have to make a major move. Deal with the luxury tax when it gets here. If they're trying to win it all this season, go for it and make a huge deal.

Until the Pelicans can decide what it is they want to do, we're just watching and hoping this team can stay competitive, or at least stay at or around .500, until we get to the All Star break.

  9. Thanks Jake. Well Chi said their not trading Caruso. Could be a smoke screen, but….. We better not send Naji out for Naz! No Plumlee has ever struck fear in the hearts of NBA teams. How about Seth Curry? we had him one summer and I think he'd be a good fit. The only problem is sending out what BKN wants which is a defensive minded player. Maybe a 3way trade which has us sending out Jax and DG?………

  10. We are looking for permanent solutions to temporary problems. BI and Zion have been out temporarily. When healthy, we are a conference finalist. We also (mostly) have the luxury tax in check with our current roster. Not many teams can say that.

  11. why are we saying we only need 1 player? we need a scoring guard who can shoot the 3 and is at least an average defender and also another big in the roation.

  12. I would do something like Devonte Graham, Jaxson Hayes, Temple and Lewis & a pick for Olynky, Beasley and another small salary throw in.

  13. So out of the 3 first round picks a few years ago…..
    NAW- traded away
    JAX- soon to be traded
Zion- 2X AS but missed more games than played

    Good draft?

  14. It seems that the Pels roster as currently constructed is pretty good. If the Pels want to make a trade it needs to be a big trade for someone who can create that gravity that we miss when BI and Zion are off the court. We have good role players and stars. The problem is our stars are always injured and our role players have to do more than they are capable of for far too many games in a row. I like Jax. If we can keep him for cheap we should, he's 22. I still think this team need to wait until the offseason to figure out which way they want to take this roster. We need to see this team (BI and Zion) play many more games together to figure out just what this roster needs moving forward. You are not giving up Naji!

  15. Demarcus Cousins Would Be A Good & Cheap Pick Up Off Free Agency.A Scoring Big Man,That Can Spread The Floor & I Think He’d Be A Good Vet For Jaxson.2nd,Trade For Derek Rose.Should Be A Trade That Don’t Cost Us Much.He Bring Veteran Leadership,IQ,Scoring & Assist.I Think He’d Be A Good Vet For Jose & Dyson.

  16. Thank you for having logical, rational and concise takes about this team. It’s extremely rare to find all that in a podcast about the Pelicans. Most people that talk about this team just makes me feel like they get emotional and hit record with little to no info.
