The OKC Thunder Are Quietly Building A SUPERTEAM! | Best Young Core in the NBA?

The Thunder’s rebuild is going so well that they may have played themselves out of the Wembanyama sweepstakes.

Between trading for SGA, drafting Josh Giddey, and stockpiling 38 future draft picks, we’ve never seen a rebuild quite like OKC’s.

Here’s how they did it.

  1. The problem is that if you pay giddey after his rookie contract then you have a max on a guy that isn't a plus defender or shooter and doesn't even shoot two free throws a game. Should've gotten Walker Kessler. Said he was gonna be a steal and so many teams passed on him. Guess who needs a big? We'd be the 4 seed this year with one. Let's see who can ball in the playoffs. That's what matters

  2. WTFFF how do u guys have so little subscribers?!?! I thought you would have as much as ppl like nonstop sports, AM hoops and jxmyhighroller 😢

  3. This will create an unspoken and very much needed rivalry between Chet and Victor who both will be eligible for rookie of the year. This might further advance the rise of the Oklahoma city thunder. It's only a matter of time this franchise starts winning. They obviously have some geniuses constructing the squad.

  4. Okc is not creating a super team. Other than shai who is awesome the only player that projects to be above average is chet holmgren. Everyone else is trade bait. Reality check. They are also not ahead of schedule on their rebuild. Given some of their recent draft misses they should be way further ahead then they are now. Giddey is analytically average but they could have done better than that. Hes fine but when his career is over i think well value guys drafted after him more such kuminga who fell to okc and they passed.

  5. As a Thunder fan, I hope Presti recognizes that what they have is special and doesn't force the team to tank for Wemby. Especially bc the worst team in the league still only has a 14% chance of getting him. Let them get that early playoff experience and learn how to play together and win. If they can keep developing the guys like SGA, Giddey, J-Dub, Isiah Joe, and Chet, keep nailing the draft picks, and maybe trade for a defensive anchor like Mikal Bridges or Bam then they're a contender for sure.

  6. If I was presti I’d trade the entire pick collection if I had to just to secure Vic. He’s worth it imo. They can’t even use all their draft picks so why not go all in on a rookie that fits the timeline, the payroll and with that much potential. Chet and him at the 4 and the 5 respectively would be an amazing front court. With shai and giddey as the backcourt and anyone at the 3 they already have would be a great team. I can see it now. Idk if dort or jdub would be the 3 but poku at the 3… having three 7 footers would be nuts

  7. Just imagine if OKC had the Rockets picks for 2022 and 2023? bc that trade was when Harden was still the guy at Houston. and as for getting a free agent, i get they have cap money, but how well the team is built, no need to mess up the chemistry.

  8. If there competing now, and there waiting on Chet and a lottery pick possibly wembenyama, and there crazy young. This was a perfect rebuild

  9. Rebuild all you want ??!! It ain’t gonna mean squat with a hopeless coach who not only plays small ball but plays it very poorly by allowing sga to play pg , so he can smash 30 ppg and make an allstar team , limiting their best playmaker giddey to 28 min a game and playing him as a defensive/rebounding small forward and a solely one dimensional iso offence with not a pick and role or team play in sight. It defies logic the way this young gun team is managed

  10. Dude come on it’s not “shy” at least research before and make sure you get these things right

  11. after the kd brook era i gave up on the team, but i believe theyre going in the right direction we're gonna be up real soon

  12. Shai still improving.Usually hit your prime at 25-26.He 24 still. He can mentor a lot of the young ones with wisdom of how to do it.He been there & still doing it.Giddey is all positivity. It looks like they play with a freedom but that would under play the coaching staff. There is method to what they do.They tunning in & being more cohesive & the consistency % is getting higher.Next season will be better & so on.Shai has a cple wingmen contributing & someone is stepping up.Getting 5-6 players with dble digit scores.

  13. I think this team is overrated. Unless they net a true top 10-5 player from the future picks I don't see how they compete for a title. Chet already has injury issues, and Shai can't shoot 3s. Giddey is best used as an ultimate glue guy and traditional PG. No star will sign there, so while this is a cute story I don't see them doing much when it counts.

  14. In a perfect world, Russ and James would come back on team friendly deals and ball out from the bench with all the young players/picks we have coming back.
